Gotta love the colder temps, the deer on our property seem to finally be moving again as of the last few days. Just not within range :o. Today was very very cold, but i didn't have time to get out after work. I really hope we get a couple good snows here before our season ends. Have fun out there Steve.

Was working today. I have tomorrow off though. Haven't looked to see what the temps will be yet in the morning. I am planning on going hunting. The 3/4 mile walk in should keep me warm until day break. :) After that it will be shear determination/will power or big buck sightings that decides how long I hunt. Unlike sissy biker man ( TeeJay )... I won't be in a blind nor have a heater with me !! LOL I'll be sitting in cattails waiting for them to come back to bed wondering why I didn't stay in my warm bed.

Looks like they backed off the real cold morning temps this weekend. Still will be below zero but at least not 20 - 25 below. That is fricking cold even with no wind.

You guys have much for snow over there ??

We got maybe 6 Inches If that. The wind blew everything around so It's real spotty. The woods has a good share so that makes It nice for seeing tracks.

It was 6 degrees here this morning but no wind and sunshine.

I was only able to hunt for about 1 1/2 hours but it was my most enjoyable hunt of the year.

Saw two 3 1/2's but only one within bow range and not what I am looking for but always fun just the same.

    Saw several doe/fawns as well.

So why was it my most enjoyable hunt this year? I am sure the novelty of it to some degree, but the crispness of everything and knowing no one else was out and about made it a little more special as well.

I love to hunt in cold weather (relatively speaking). I have never hunted in 15 below but have s been skiing in temps as low as 20 below on several occasions and never bothered me so long as I dressed appropriately.

We are lucky if we've got 3 - 4 inches. Just enough to see tracks and hopefully quiet down the walk in if it is calm in the morning.

Got some bad news the other day. Flyers was killed. That makes two of our target bucks gone. No idea if the Tall 6 pt or Freaky brow made it. Heck I am not even sure if the old 4 pt made it now with the poachers that are in the area. Once muzzle loading season gets over this weekend... things should quiet down.

Saw 8. 7 of the them were doe's and fawns. The other one was a loner, dissapeared about 50 yards west of me. Tough night out with this damn cold of mine. :( Time for my cold meds, later boys!!! :)

Just be glad you aren't in alberta canada. It's 9deg f here right now, with lows of -17deg f on the week-end. This week-end won't be fun. And these temps are for southern alberta.

Minnesota sounds like it's getting some pretty crappy weather.

Question for you experienced hunters out there, have you found that you have been able to get a pretty good idea on what kind of winter we are going to be getting by how much fat your late season harvested deer have on them? I've heard a couple people talking about it but I wasn't sure how accurate that would be.

I've always payed close attention to this when others have shot deer late In the season. Honestly I think the doe's are the best ones to go by when going by how much fat they have. The bucks loose from what I understand 70% of their fat during the rut. No one around here has shot anything as of late but I'll make a note of It when someone does about the fat they have on them and post It on here.
