Depends on where you are and how high the winds are.

I gave it up earlier. 28mph gusts on top of winds in the teens.

The oeak of the rut has passed here, IMO, and I think the does that have not been bred are locked down so the rest are bedded in this stuff.

You defiantly will not see deer or get a shot in the living room. I have kicked myself checking the trail camera pics after days that I deemed it too windy for the deer to move, they will move getting an accurate shot may be another issue but the deer will move.

40+ mph winds here two days ago... My buddy was out in it and saw deer moving almost all day. Killed a real nice 10pt right before last light.... Personally I would be hunting from the ground however not in a tree. Just too hard to not have the wind effect your shot 20 ft up.

The more wind the less I expect deer to be moving. But I believe that varies at different times of the year and where you are. A month, month half ago high winds would have had more impact because with the number of leaves and them falling the forest would have been extremely noisy. Today, there are no leaves left on the trees, and those on the ground have been rained on multiple times and are no longer as noisy so deer can hear better.

I ask myself, what would I be doing if I didn't hunt? I could sit inside and do nothing or sit in a stand and possibly have a chance even if not a great chance.

I was out yesterday morning in the wind. Gusty to about 30-40 mph and steady 10-15 which is very unusual here. Didn't see that many deer. 2 does that were moving through. I looked behind me from where the does came from and saw a real nice buck up the hill about 50 yards from me. The gusty winds was swirling every which way and the buck winded me and turned back from the way he came. That was frustrating as the wind generally was moving in my favor except for those gusty swirls. Saw deer just not nearly as many.

We had gusts of 50 on Thursday and 35 yesterday, but I was seeing my best deer movement of the year!

Go hunt unless it's a hurricane. They bed more in the wind but will still get up and feed. Can't kill them from home.
