So... being that the rut is nowhere to be found in my area, I decided to shake things up and have some fun by hunting an unfamiliar area on public land. Long story short, my cousin's F250 ran into a transmission issue, so we took my car -and were forced to ditch the climbers and hunt off the ground... which by the way, was an absolute blast!! I haven't done that in years... what a challenge! Anyway, this land is all ridges and valleys. We had 15-20 mph wind gusts from the south and it was swirling all over the hills. Granted, that's not an everyday thing, but 3-5 mph winds is very typical. So the question is how can you effectively hunt these ridges and valleys, while fighting wind that is constantly swirling and changing directions??
funny to see you here. I sat tonight and got soaked with the rain and wind, had a small 8 a spike a 3 doe walk past despite being a terrible night to hunt.
Look what the cat dragged in! lol... Dude, I'm seeing nothing in Granville. I hunted Alum Creek this morning and finally seen a few deer, but nothing even close to rutting activity. And I only took one week off lol...
Yeah I have been off the past week and it has been slow I have only seen 1 shooter, but the small ones are chasing a little. I think it is because it has been to warm, hopefully next week will be better. I go back to work tomorrow so I will only be out on my days off.
