Now there's a new learning curve. For Xmas my Microsoft son gave me a new lap top with Windows 8, touch screen and all that. It's cool.. but it's also learning a different way to do stuff. I like it, but hate it at the same time. It's a totally different thing from say windows XP or Windows 7 or whatever. 'But it really is different and fun to play with. I'm thinking if a 68 year old dude can pick this up.... anyone can. LOL I even went to the Microsoft store in Bellevue today for a 20 minute intro class to windows 8. My son had already walked me through the same stuff they provided in the class... except they gave me a couple add ons. Anyway.... we now have an old guy trying to learn new tricks.
(Priz making a Phone call) Hello, Reverend Fletcher ?? Has hell frozen over ?? Davids trying something new !!!!
The user interface is new, but you still have the same basic desktop, it's just not the first thing you see. I believe my brother downloaded an app the gives it a user interface more similar to what you would have in Windows 7. I agree it takes some getting used to, and there does seem to be a few glitches here and there. For example, it keeps crashing when I try to use Itunes for some reason. I haven't had time to really check into what is causing the problem.
Well they put a phone interface on a laptop, so hold your laptop to your face and it will work better.
I laughed. I think it's comical to see the latest Windows 8 commercial showing a lady playing angry birds on her touch screen PC running Windows 8. That's the marketing strategy Windows is going for. The sad fact that the majority of Americans are stripping down the PC usage for...games and social media. Fantastic.
I laughed as well.... Oh so true... I just don't see this being a widely adopted platform for business. Maybe as big of a failure as Vista or Windows ME. We are running it in our tech department and the general consensus is no way could we ever deploy it to our employee desktops group. I still find myself fumbling through it for advance administrative type features and I have been running it since Beta 1… That and I hate the new hibernation state of applications.
