I've heard great things about Windows 7 and have heard little to brag about with Windows Vista. I'd go with Windows 7 if it were me and I've dealt in software for years.

Not sure if this is what was meant by 'tech talk' but.... :-) Windows7 is essentially just an improved 'version' of Vista, so I would go with W7 - which will also be supported longer (security updates, etc)....

Vista Sucks! Talk to an IT company and they will tell you not to get Vista.

7 seems like a no brainer. I have heard the same as knockaround. I have only played around with 7 for a week or two, but it seems like a good system.

Windows 7. It's what Vista should have been.

It's a lot more "future proof" as far as an OS can be.

    Win 7...

Most big organizations are jumping right past Vista.

I have Vista on the laptop I am using right now, and really don't have any issues with it, but 7 is much easier to install and maintain.

From everything I've read, VISTA is a terrible decision all fronts. It's like it took all of the mistakes from XP, didn't fix them, and added a few of its own.

That being said, Windows 7 has received rave reviews thus far but it hasn't been released long.

If I were making the decision I'd go with Windows 7 (or snow leopard :) )

I'm an IT guy for a large university and can say we never went to Vista or even considered it after our testing phase. We are however, beginning our planning phase for rolling out 7.

It's simply a much, much better OS.

I have a good friend of mine who is way more advanced in I.T. than I am (I'm more Unix based...). He's got all those MCSE, A+, etc... certifications too. Anyway, he tells me that in his I.T. shop, whenever they get a brand new corporate PC or laptop in, they immediately scrub Vista off it! They install Windows 7 and then to do their standard corporate "load" of software CD's.

In a nutshell: Windows 7 rocks.... from what I've read and my friend has told me.

I got a chance to play around with Windows 7 last night for the first time and was impressed with it.

It runs like XP but looks like Vista.

Best of both worlds and by far the best Microsoft OS to come out yet.

My home PC had Vista on it when I bought it but they send me a free upgrade voucher to Windows 7 which I just got in two days ago... haven't had the time to load it and I'm in really no hurry yet as Vista hasn't let me down at all for the simple things I use a computer for (web surfing, word processing).

I wouldn't go with either lol. Vista was a piece of crap from the get-go and despite all of their updates never really improved. Just the operating system itself takes up a lot of room and can make your computer run slower. Vista 7 is rather new in terms of technology and probably still has several bugs to work out until it's up to par. I made the mistake of getting Vista on my computer and I really wish I would have stuck with Windows XP.
