I'm sure there is a post somewhere on here.. but just curious when other people get down out of the stand based on wind speed or decide it's unsafe to go up?

In Kansas it happens quite a bit. In a ladder stand 10 mph + will bring me down. In my Tree Lounge I may stay in till 20 mph. I locate stand sites thinking wind direction and sun. Here you pert near always have wind and it will often ground you then blow your pop - up over.

depends on the tree and the type of stand. We have some ladders on BIG trees that aren't moving at all in the wind, whereas the hang-ons are generally on smaller trees that can make it pretty dicey when 15 or above.

I'm in central ohio.. didn't used to get nervous with winds.. now with the ash bore issues we have had makes me very nervous being around any ash. Woods I hunt has tons of dead ash trees. Last big wind we had looked like a bomb went off in the woods.
