I was out this afternoon trying to get my freakin new arrows to fly right. Well for some unkown to me reason they are some porposing son of a bucks. They look good when the hit the target, level and straight. I have lowered and raised my nock point from level to 5/8 high and every 1/16 in. inbetween but i just cant get the dang thing to go like Ithink they should. I am hitting the mark pretty dang good with them but what is happening in between is kinda ~~~~~~~~~ like that. Before I get plumb pissy I need to know if a pretty stout breeze will really throw off these slower moving arrows. I know it has got to throw them off a little but heck its only blowing maybe 10-15 mph. PS I may have some 29" 1916's for sale pretty soon if this dont get better.
Zach. Are all your arrows doing this or just the odd one? Did you mark the bad flight ones to see if it was the same arrow/s?
Na, I tell you what, I will probably only get 1 out of the 5 that I have fletched up that flies good. And thats not even all of the time really it would be like 1 out of 10 shots or so.
I have been working pretty hard on that and w/ my grizzly and the 2016s I get really good flight but maybe I am not getting as good of a release w/ this little bow. Brace height is 8 1/4 in. If I should try to go above 5/8 in. I will definately try it.
AGHHHHHHH so ya swapped bows:d Then I would say it is your release. The smaller bow is going to have more finger pinch which you may or may not notice which will effect your release. Try this draw as normal with 3 fingers then when you get to anchor drop off your saluting finger and do a 2 finger release.
If this is the 62" grizzly you put the new grip on... First lower that brace height, 7 1/2- 7 3/4 works best for me on my grizzly but may vary for different people. If I remember your picture you're shooting off a shelf, don't be afraid to adjust the nocking point. Some times raising it just a little can make a huge difference. woodsman
Ok I learned something new today. First off I learned that I really REALLY like my little K-mag bow. Second I learned how to bare shaft tune my bow. First off I took what Jeff said and went way beyond 5/8 in. high with my nocking point. Then I shot 5 fletched up arrows and 3 bare shafts. I finally understood all of the diagrams I had seen and paragraphs I had read. I finally understood what happens when you lower you nock just fractions of an inch. I finally understood what it looks like when you bow and arrows are tuned. It took me a good 2 hours to get the K-mag tuned but when it finally happened I could drill a hole in my target w/ both the fletched and the bare shafts. That felt really good. Now I spent the next hour tuning my Grizzly and got it just as close as the K-mag. All in all I just needed this afternoon to understand how to see how much change such a little amount of movement of your nock can make. Thanks for the help guys and I promise I got my arrows flying straight now. OH yea Russ the two finger release worked great on the K-mag.
