Will we see a 4.5" brace hieght from Mathews next? I mean hell they are down to a 5.5" now and still got shattered by PSE. What will be next from either one? 375 fps? 400?

Actually, PSE's new X-Force Omen UF has the 5.5" BH; and the Mathews Monster XLR8 has a 5" BH! Yes, I do believe a company will dip below the 5" mark in the near future if not next year. Which company, I don't know.

Is this a good thing? Really though, I don't see the benefit of it.

    Generally doesn't a shorter brace height= less forgiving bow?

Note sure. I suppose as long as there is a market, it's a possibility. You won't ever see them in the hands of the serious shooters on the lines, though (although a guy did very well a few weekends back with an Rytera Alien during a 5 spot shoot over on AT).

Can anyone enlighten me on how PSE's offering shatters the Monster? I must be missing something. I shot the Monster, and I'm betting half the bashers can't even claim that (the ones talking about forgiving, harsh draws, short BHs, etc). To be honest, it drew smoothly and shot smoothly...my biggest gripe with this unshootable bow? It was top heavy and seemingly huge.

Obviously these bows aren't for everyone (including me), but to hint that it's a bad thing? Don't understand that one. My buddy ordered a Monster in 60# limbs, and at 1" shorter DL with 10# lighter limbs, it will STILL sling an arrow faster than my Hoyt Vectrix...but I wouldn't trade bows with him.

I certainly am not a speed bow basher. They certainly have their advantages, and they have their disadvantages. All I stated is that they won't become so mainstream that the long ATA and BH bows dwindle is all.

Agreed...I actually like that bows vary so much these days...something for everyone.

I always thought my next bow would in no way be a "screamer" because of all the unshootability hype, but heck, after shooting the bow with the worst rep in the industry, I was SHOCKED at how NOT bad it was, lol.

I agree TEmbry, the Monster was a REALLY nice shooting bow even though it has drawn some bad hype. However, this bow has a 6" BH (The Rytera Alien has a 7" BH, no wonder it shot so nice!). The new Omen UF and XLR8 have respective BHs of 5.5" and 5". These slight differences could/SHOULD be critical in comparing the "shootability" of these two bows. However, they are yet to reach the stores. When they do, I can't wait to shoot them and bring my results to the forum!

I was using the PSE slogan of shattering Mathews..I don't know much about either one.I had the x force in 07 and didn't really shoot it well. My only experience with a6" BH. 6fps sec is not really shattering....

I actually hope we don't see it (4.5" brace) from anyone including Bowtech. I'd like to see the increase in speed not come from a shorter brace height but perhaps material and design in the longer brace height bows.

I shot the monster today as well Trevor, and actually thought it was really nice. I love the new harmonic dampners, definatly think they are an advantage. We had the same dislikes, aweful top heavy and just a massive bow. I wouldnt hesitate to hunt with one at all.

But the mathews reezen 7, I absolutly love that bow. It may be in my stables come next year.

See that just shows how people are different...I liked the Monster BETTER than the Reezen, in fact, I didn't care for the Reezen at all really. My main problem was the release I was using was SO different than my release, it was hard to actually get a feel for the bows. I do know this, EITHER one would be a GREAT bow to hunt with, and both were pretty darn quiet for such speed grabbers.

I am going to reshoot them with my release next time up there for a more accurate review, but not for anything more than curiosity...my bow stays atleast another year, and I will likely either snag the 2010 new version of an alphamax or elites newest z28 equivalent....I am keeping mine for ATLEAST this year, maybe even longer...she does fine. I want to go to 60# and shoot the exact same speed or faster with my current arrows, and out of a lighter and quieter bow...once I can do that with a bow that I actually like, I will upgrade.

Note to TEmbry, always bring your release when shooting new bows. ;) :D

Just kiddin' man, you have a head on your shoulders and I will be curious to see how you feel about the bows after shooting them with your "very own" release. :tu:
