Will the US add states, stay the same or will a state or states ever secede from the good ol US?

    Edited to add......In your lifetime.

Did we already lose seven since 2008?

    ;)

When you say more states, do you mean like Puerto Rico becomes one... or we wall off Chicago and make them their own state?

    The answer is yes.

Can we nominate one or more states to be forced out or traded for draft picks instead? :)

    Thanks for the vague answer.

Now, why do you think that?

I absolutely see a new USA coming ... whether it be in my lifetime or not, I do not know but when you see America in the state she is in with no options to remedy it .... what choice will there be?

Of course, The Second coming of The Lord Jesus Christ is imminent, so He might come and take all His kids up, ushering in the time of the anti-christ ... that will fix things fer sure ... for His kids anyway ... but that is just what I believe ... if you don't (not you, Dan) , see first paragraph :D

Good point T, I should have said "In your lifetime." I added it above.

I can see a big uprising in the future (Maybe near future) and things changing drastically. The financial shape some states are in they may get auctioned off to the highest bidder to pay bills.

PR, DC or some other territory/protectorate would be the argument to grow.
Though possible, I don't see it as likely that a single state splits to create additions. Also probably highly unlikely would be the forceful annexation of adjacent land.

States diminishing ability to self govern or an ultimate triggering event, the proverbial straw that breaks the camels back, due to increased real or perceived substantive difference with the federal government would be the argument for succession. Though there would be all sorts of legal debate on this potential item, another 'civil war' always could occur as has happened here and in other countries.

Likelihood of either slim, but AK & HI were was relatively recent...PR would be my bet to be added in my lifetime. The succession line I would submit would be a function of changing federal gov't policy, decisions or actions...

A new Jerusalem yes, eventually. A new USA, I'm not find it in my copy of the script...but there is that whole 'wars and rumors of wars' clause, so maybe you're covered ;-)

We may take on Greenbay as a state.... but it's going to be touchy. So much cheese and all.

I can see Puerto Rico or maybe the Virgin Islands becoming states, but not in our lifetime unless there are some dramatic changes. Our government has trouble just keeping itself running from year to year.

Besides, the biggest question is how in the WORLD are they going to fit 51 stars in the field of blue on the US flag and still have a symmetrical pattern? :D

They won't become states because of the wicked welfare and social security nightmares that would follow. We already support their lifestyles. If they were states it would be worse.. NOPE,,, not going to happen. Hell, the VD rate alone in Puerto Rico would bankrupt the country.

I'm younger than all you old farts and I believe until I die it will be the 50 states of USA. To say we don't have a way out at this point is naive and silly. Tax like Europe does and our country is out of the hole we dug and profitable before I retire. I'd rather see us cut back drastically in spending and make it there in 1/3 the time personally.

And this is coming from someone who's dream career is working for government programs hinging on free handouts.

There is almost a direct contradiction between what you said we should do in your first paragraph and your dream career. We should tax like Europe does but your dream job is in government programs hinging on free handouts?

Wouldn't it be more efficient to tax like Europe and get rid of the free handouts?

Your first statement of contradictions had me almost convinced.... but to say we should go the way Europe did... well you failed. They've failed. They're going to emplode. We don't need to follow them into the depression voluntarily.

I was only talking about taxes, not making the same mistakes they did. Personally, the only way I see us ever managing to dig ourselves out of this hole that we're in is to unload the freeloaders and make everyone pay their fair share. In fact, if we just got rid of the freeloaders we'd probably be able to get out of this without having to pay higher taxes.

But right now we have freeloaders running the country.... that's the scary part.

Lol I never said we SHOULD tax like Europe, only said if we did we could easily climb out of the hole... I'd much rather see a cut back on all handouts, even if it meant the death of my dream career (government funded healthcare programs as a pharmacist). I could find work elsewhere easily, especially if it meant our country would cut back on taxes and the hundreds of programs they support.

I am hoping to see us become 49 states, with california being swallowed by the ocean.
