I have a question: Do you stand up to shoot every time, or do you prefer to sit and shoot? I just thought standing was a part of the shot cycle from seeing videos and hearing other hunters' stories. Then my first opportunity came. I stood up, got wobbly in the knees as my heart was pounding, and felt uneasy in the stand-even seasick. This was before I had a harness too! I sat down and shot. Since then, I have never stood up to shoot. I feel more secured, comfortable, and even practice in the summer sitting and twisting in all different directions to make shots. I prefer to sit. Thoughts?

My climber has a shooting rail so it would make it difficult. I see nothing wrong with sitting and shooting I just doubt I ever will.

I stayed siting yesterday when I had the shot, there was no need to stand. But I stand up when I need too. There is no wrong way to kill a deer. Just like driving too the hunt, both toyota and chevy will get you there. There is no need to argue about which is better.

If I have time & the opportunity, I stand.

One of my old stands has a bucket seat and there isn't as much room on the platform so I sit in that one. Plus the seat swivels 360*.

I'm with you I prefer to sit while shooting. Don't have to worry about too much movement in a hot moment. Just concentrate on my shot opportunity. Just in case I do have shot lines trimmed for standing as well.

Whichever has the best shot. Sitting and or standing. I have practiced both for many hours so I am comfortable doing both

There are many shots I have taken that would be impossible from a sitting position. I stand up when I can.

A few years ago, if I had tried to stand to take the shot, I would have been busted. However, it feels more natural to stand to shoot. So, when I can, I stand. If not, take the shot sitting.

Depends on the situation but for the most part I prefer to sit down and shoot....gives a good angle on the shot from the stand sorta like bending your knees when standing just better imo

I stand up. Im usually standing during prime time hours to make sure my movement is limited. About a month ago I took a shot at a doe from a seated position and missed over her back. My climber makes me feel constrained whiled shooting from a seated position so I make sure I'm standing when the time comes to draw and shoot.

90% of the animals I have killed from a stand have been from a sitting position. Since it is comfortable for me to shoot that way I see no reason for the extra movement of standing before shooting unless it is necessary

It would depend on what position I was in when they walked into my lane. The deer I took this season I was standing, but I also was using the landowners tree stand that has a larger footing area than my stand. In my tree stand I would probably go with sitting. I guess it all depends on the proper stance you can get while standing.

In 35 seasons I've never taken a shot while seated.

Lol, no I own a jeep and I was just teasing. I bought my wife a VW and used it to haul my 142" 10 pointer earlier this month. I'm not big on the whole domestic car pride thing. I work at a Mercedes dealership anyway so.....

I've killed 50+ deer from a tree stand.

But only two deer while I was standing. I prefer to shoot while setting. But I also know where the deer will travel and which way they will come from 99% of the time, which may dictate why some stand?

Nope... even deer that show up exactly where I expect them to be and when, I'm standing at first sight or prior... sitting and shooting is just unnatural to me,... I practice standing, I shoot 3D standing and even in a blind I go to one knee, shooting while seated in a treestand is nothing I want to do, so I don't do it. You prefer to sit, I prefer to stand... enjoy.
