I read that painting a bow would decrease the value, so is that really true? I was going to have my limb pockets, cam, idler wheel, and roller guard painted black, have the riser powder coated gray or black and put new black limbs on it. To me that seem like it would increase the value if done right especially if it already has some wear because it is a used bow that's almost 7 years old.
True but I bet I could get $400 easy in the current condition. It's not quite as bad as you would think, I'm just really picky about how my stuff looks.
$400 seems a little steep for a 7 year old bow unless the accessories are nice. I say paint it as you would like to have it painted! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I just checked on Craigslist and some crazy guy wants $895 and $695 for two reezens with good accessories. Two other guys are asking what I said was a decent price one wants $425 with okay accessories and another wants $400 bare. If I was interested in selling mine I think about $400 with the current accessories is a decent price.
I didn't see what bow you had. But ya the reezens have held their value pretty well. Everyone that I've talked to says it shot amazing. The z7 is another people sell for way more then they should. There's a few bows that this happens with. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It definitely would not increase the value. Most people want an original bow in excellent condition. Paint it, and they begin to wonder why. If you think you may sell it, I wouldn't. If not, paint away
If your going to keep using it and it adds to it utility I say paint away. You sound like your going to do more than the typical krylon paint job anyway.
People love they some Reezens. I've never shot one but from what everyone says about them I never figured out why they got discod so quick. I say paint it and then in a few years when you're ready to move on keep it as a backup. Never know when you're going to need it.
I'm thinking about possibly painting the riser brown now. What do you guys think would look better? A brown, black or gray riser? I'm leaning towards brown or gray but black would be great in the blind.
Just know whatever you spend on it is completely for your eyes only monetarily... Resale value will remain the same or decrease. I wouldn't mess with it, but I don't really care for customizing my bow anymore... I just shoot it how it is for 6-10 years then trade in for whichever new bow I like best at the time. By the time I go to trade in, I have been just holding on to the old bow and giving it to a family member to start them into archery. The depreciate rapidly compared to other goods like guns or knives.
I was looking on Google and I saw this. To me this looks like a nightmare. I would think he's going to have a hard time selling this since he didn't take it apart and do everything separately to make it look good. On top of that it's cheap spray paint. I feel like I died a little inside once I saw this.
