I Recently acquired 3 arrows from my cousin who bought new ones and gave me his. We originally split a 12 pack so they are the same arrow except mine are 28.5" and his were 29".. I talked to a guy at my local store and he said I wont notice a difference unless im shooting out to 100 yrds. He was younger and didnt check the GPI so i didnt fully believe him. He said i wont notice a difference if im hunting and only shooting 40-50 yrds max. The arrows are Easton st. epics 9.5 GPI. I shoot a QS33 28" draw, 66# with 125 gr tip. What do you guys think? Thanks, Matt
I doubt that you will see any difference. If you want them the same as yours you can nock the insert out by pulling the nock, inserting a drill bit that just fits into the shaft and whipping the shaft so that the drill bit slides down and slams into the insert. After a couple sharp whacks it should come flying out. Then you can cut the shafts down and re-glue the inserts.
Do NOT use heat on a carbon shaft with the HIT insert!! You'll ruin the shaft! Maybe I didn't describe the technique well enough. It's the weight of the standard drill bit dropping on the insert that breaks the glue bond. It doesn't take a full length bit.
LOL Gotcha! Ive seen a guy dip em in thinner also for a few seconds. Depend on how much glue is used. But being 1/2 in long I wouldnt bother.
never even crossed my mind about cutting off the knock end. I plan on reflecthing all of them anyways so i'll prolly do that. The drill bit techneque sounds like it would work too but if im reflecthing them anyways i'll just get that end cut. Thanks for all the suggestions guys
