I am looking for my first camera and don't have the $ to spend a fortune. $100 is about all I will be able to do any time soon. I want to patern deer with a cam soon so th ewhole put $ back for a little longer isn't going to cut it. my cousin has one of the cheap Wal-mart flash ones and it doesn't do too bad for what it is. The specs look pretty good. Here is Cabellas info on it:

    Any sugestions??

Will you be setting it up over an open area? Bait? Trail?
Also, are you just wanting to get an idea of size or are you wanting to go into good detail about the deer.

You will get mixed results and answers... Me personally, I have a total of 8 WildGame Innovation IR4 cameras... Have only had one issue, and the company sent me back a BRAND NEW IR5 CAMO camera... It is the only camera I will buy. Just make sure you go above 3 mega pixels.. Just for clarity reasons.. A buddy put out a IR2 and it is very difficult to zoom in for details... Am pulling the 8 cameras tomorrow when I get to the lease in Georgia.. Can't wait to see the results.. Have been out since mid March..

Id say if you are just wanting to pattern deer anything would be fine. If on limited $ grab a couple cheap ones that get decent reviews. Kind of necessary to have multiple if you are looking to pattern deer on trails and such. Little different if you are looking to get high quality pictures and are just putting a cam on bait.

You just need to do some testing on trigger speed and position your cam accordingly.
If you have a slow speed, the deer could be gone by the time it triggers.

You'd be better off saving for a different camera. I can tell you that any camera that is sold for $100.00 is not worth spending $100.00 on. Can you justify spending $600.00 on a reconyx? Problably not, but there are a TON of decent cameras out there for around $200....

Save your money and get a used Reconyx. I have 2 Reconyx cams for a grand total of $450. Battery life and dependability will pay you back 10 fold in a few years.

I have hated every cam i have that has c-batterys and for that matter d- batterys

Look at the x6c wildgame cam they sell it on this site in the shopping area.
The cam is ultra small and runs on 8-AA batterys and has great pics and video

I am putting it on my mineral station. I have a ton of new hoof prints every week or less time than that sometimes. I have raked the station and went out 2 days later and there were prints every where in it. I am not wanting super high quality just enough to tell if it is the same deer. They trail passes by my mineral plot about 20 feet from it. It would be nice to know if they are does or bucks. I will be purchasing one that has a flash distance of 50' and an IR flash.
