My wife has been coaching high school bball since 1999. She's had some really good players that went on to play D-1 basketball, however, none of which have been as prolific a scorer as her current point guard. Last night Breyana Mason broke the all time county scoring mark for our county with 1,931 pts! That puts here in front of two current WNBA players in Monica Wright (UVA) and Lynetta Kizer (MD). Both were McDonald's all americans coming out of high school and I believe Breyana would have been also if she had not hurt her knee before the US national team U-18 tryouts this past spring.

I told my wife she will probably never coach a player like her again in her career in terms of raw scoring. She is averaging 27.1 pts per game this year and is the 3rd leading scorer in all of the massive DC/Metro area. My wife's team is in the playoffs right now and it is do or die. Win or out. They play a great team on Tuesday so I am not sure if Breyana will reach the 2,000 pt mark but she has a shot. The University of Virginia is getting an outstanding player, person, and student.

Thats impressive. We have had some pretty good basketball players come from my home town. biggest being willie veasley who went to play at Butler. There is also a girl this year who signed at Arizona State. She broke 2000 points this year. The about 5 years ago we had 4 girls on the same team break 4 thousand points. So some pretty good players come out of little towns.

She is averaging approximately 20 pts a game through her entire hs career which is just nuts. She plays in the Virginia Div 6 division which is the biggest schools division. And she is still only 17.

That's impressive, Brett! I'm sure your wife is proud to be her coach.

A player my brother trains (Andrew Rowsey, Rockbridge County High School) is getting scary close to breaking the all-time VHSL points record. I'm not sure how many he has total, but he broke 2,000 in late December and has been averaging close to 40 the entire year. He passed either Grant Hill or Alonzo Mourning earlier in the year, and depending how deep they do into the playoffs he'll have a legitimate chance of being Virginia's all time leading scorer.

Wife won an away game against a top 10 team in the state tonight. A four hour bus ride away and they took it to them all night, never trailing, and beat them in a tight game that eventually opened up in the fourth. This was the same team that kept them from the state playoffs last year. If my wife's team wins on Thursday they will be in the AAA eight man state tourney for the 4th time in 6 years. 2008-State Championship runner-up, 2009-State Quarterfinals, 2011 State Semi-finals, 2013-?

Sorry if I am boring you guys with this stuff, but this is high school girls basketball time and I am addicted. :)

Sweet vengeance!!! Congrats to her and her team!
I saw a point guard come through my old high school about 10 years after I graduated. Her and both of her older brothers went to D1 colleges. Two of the three won state champinships and she went pro. Truly a once in a lifetime situation. Hope she has a younger sister for your wife to coach someday!
