My wife updated and traded in her PSE Chaos FC for the Hoyt Vicxen. The chrono graphed it at 212-216fps earlier. It doesn't seem to add up with the IBO though. She's shooting a 306 grain arrow at 40# and 25 inches. Anyway, just thought I'd update!

Your wife needs to talk to my wife! If mine went hunting she would take her purse!

It seems to me 216fps is a little slow for the IBO rating. We just recalculated the grain arrow she's using and it's roughly 300 grains.

The Vicxen is tested at 70lbs with a 29" draw with a 350grn arrow...

Your shooting 30lbs less and 4" shorter... I'd say your getting pretty good speed out of it.
I just ran your specs through a fps calculator and it said you should be seeing about 206fps. I added 15grn in string weight with a 305grn arrow.

Did you use the backcountrybowhunting.com archery calculator?

Each inch of draw is worth 10fps and each 1lb of draw weight is worth 2fps, but this would compensate with the lighter arrow. She lost 40fps with the draw length and 60fps with the draw weight and that means she lost 100fps in total from the draw alone, but the arrow weight at only 300 grains gave her a little more speed, so I was expecting about 220fps.

It turns out she's getting around 31ft/lbs of kinetic energy.

Hoyt bows look funny to me. It's the only reason I can't even consider them...

IMO, Hoyt and Mathews are the most eye appealing bows there are. I really like the look of the Bear bows too though. Hoyt just has this cool look to it. Especially the black Carbon Element. Mathews are really sharp looking bows too though. I doubt I'll buy anything other than Hoyt and Mathews in the future though after shooting them in comparison to PSE, Bowtech, etc.

Congrats to her, same bow my daughter-in-law shoots.
She called the other day just to tell me she put a 43 yard kill shot on a rabbit.

43 yards on a rabbit is an incredible shot. Congrats to her. We just started sight adjusting today. 15 yards with the green pin is spot on, then 25 with the red is pretty much inside of a 4 inch circle with 5 arrows, but the 35 yard pin is going to need just a little bit more work. She got pretty tired today though and the bugs were biting, so we're going to try again tomorrow.
