I was at a bar last night that registers deer when this one came in. The guy claims it to be 25 3/8" inside. Not many whitetails get that wide of spread. I estimated the buck to be between 165-168 gross. I vetoed my hunt last night due to high winds, Damn it!
That's an awesome buck. The shot is a terrible shot. It looks like he got that artery along the spine. Just like in the last episode with Tim Ainsworth.
WOW... Just plain WOW... what a rack on that dude! The shot placement looks like a hard quartering away entry that was perfectly placed toward the opposite front leg... taking out liver and lungs. IMHO that hunter knew exactly how to kill a deer. Congratulations to him.
Depends on the angle. My entry was almost the exact same spot on my last doe. Exited right through the off shoulder.
Greg, is it common in your neck of the woods to check deer in at bars? Never heard of that before. Seems like a good idea to me. I'd check him in and grab a tall one to celebrate.
