This is horrible news for my hill country hangout. I hunt this area during the rut. I hope they lock him away for a while!

Here's the link to the warden wire from the WI DNR:

I say make him serve weekends in jail for several years. Monday through Friday make him work two jobs to pay off the fines, the profits of which should 100% go to the DNR to restock those poached deer. If he fails to work two jobs to pay off the fines, then lock him away for years.

license suspension of any type seems ineffective. They hunt outside the season, day, night, they don't care about a license from the get go. May as well not be a consequence. Poachers like this should never be allowed to fish or hunt again period. Make people think twice about poaching at all. They should be felons as well so they can't own fire arms again.

I really doubt there will be any serious consequences. It will depend on whether the judge and DA have the will to do the right thing.

We all need to remember these are the people who give us a bad name. Most if not all here would never condone this type of action, but to a vast majority of people they are no different than us.
