I've looked online but some things are unclear to me. I know this is a little bit late to be asking but I'll try anyways. Is it possible for me to still get a tag? I have permission to hunt some property in Sauk County. I saw that there was tags left over in some zones, can you buy these over the counter? Or did I have to apply earlier? Thanks for any help!
If there are tags left in your zone then you can purchase them over the counter. There is an initial lottery which is over already, then they sell the remaining tags over the counter. I am 99% sure that you can purchase over the counter as a non resident. WI DNR has a chat feature that is really helpful, you can ask anything you want, here's a link http://dnr.wi.gov/chat/
Looks like there are tags remaining in Zone 1 & 3 for the last two seasons and tags in Zone 4 for the last season.
