I'm not sure about the age of the buck in pictures 5 & 6. This is the first year we've got pictures of him so I have to believe he is only 3 1/2.
Does a Roman nose on a whitetail usually mean its an older deer? The deer in pictures 5 & 6 sure does look like he has the makings of a Roman nose. Any thoughts??
Id say he's over 5 1/2 for sure, and on his way to starting to decline in antler size, this should be his last good year for antler size, good luck on tagging him. Also yes to the roman nose making it an older deer . Rocky
It's just strange because we typically get pictures of 2.5-3.5 yr old bucks and watch them grow to 5.5 yr olds.. very rare a 5.5 yr old would just show up without us ever seeing him before
Very true! But in this small tract of land that we're hunting its unusual to see an older deer that we've never seen before. It is very possible that he moved in from a more pressured neighboring property though!
The first and last bucks are studs, that roman nose deer in the last two pics is def a mature buck more than likely declining like YF said! I'd target him hard since hes showing in daylight
