So this is the second year I have been hunting my property in Wi. The first year produced no deer becuase I did not know the area very well. So over the winter I went out and found the bedding area and a lot of deer tracks so I marked some trees where I would hang stands. Well summer came and I hung some stand and trail cams and started putting some corn out by the trail cams. Baiting is legal in my county. I got numerous photos of does and a few nice bucks. It was looking promising. Well the season opened this year and I spotted many does and fawns. had a fawn come out at 10 yards but I was not going to fill my doe tag with a baby. Well then the ever anticipated Halloween weekend came upon me. I sat Saturday morning and saw nothing or heard nothing. Came back Sunday and sat all morning again with nothing. Then at 9:50am 10 min before I was going to climb down this Broken 8 pointer came in. I did not hear him until he was right underneath me. He walked to my corn pile that was 10 yards out. I drew back as he was walking and then he stopped to take a bite of corn. That is when I nailed him quartering away. Perfect double lung. He took off crashing through the thick pines as I heard him crash. Gave it 45 min. Tracked him with good blood for about 50 yards. Then found my arrow with good blood and bubbles on it! after picked up the arrow I looked into the woods and 20 yard up there he was under a down pine tree. Very satisfying that I harvested a buck out of a property I knew nothing about last year and worked so hard this summer to make a good spot. Well here he is. Like I said he was a broken eight pointer. Six actual points. I'm very happy with this deer! One photo is a trail cam shot from the before the season with all his points, and after the shot.
