I figured there aren't enough debates going on here right now, so why not start one........hah. I'm a regular reader of both Fox News and CNN. I don't dive deep into them, but consistently read the front website page of Fox, and also read CNN to understand what's happening on the other side and that perspective as well. Full disclosure.......I'm fairly libertarian but tend to lean right on most things, one of which is 2nd ammendment. After the most recent school shooting event in Colorado, after the actual day it happened........I haven't seen anything in the media unless I actually went looking for it. Now I clearly understand why CNN isn't covering this on a front page and what their agenda is, and why the coverage they are providing doesn't even outline that the incident was stopped by an armed Deputy Sheriff that was onsite. What I don't understand is why a news source such as Fox who is apparently more right leaning isn't all over this. Neither of them specifically outline that the kid was cornered in a library by an armed Sheriff that was onsite and the kid chose the easy way out because of it. Link to Fox's coverage: http://www.foxnews.com/us/2013/12/1...ad-machete-3-molotov-cocktails-more-than-125/ Link to CNN's coverage: http://www.cnn.com/2013/12/17/us/colorado-school-shooting/index.html?iref=allsearch Fact is, now their have been two school shooting incidents that have occurred in the last 15 years where an armed person was onsite. Neither of them resulted in any victims dead. This most recent event, the kid showed up with molotov cocktails, 125 rounds of ammo, and 5 seperate room numbers written on his arm......he obviously had full intentions to go full Sandy Hook on this mission. I don't think most people even know about the Pearl High School shooting in 1997, and most people have now forgotten completely about the Arapahoe High School shooting just a couple of weeks later......... Why aren't more people and the media talking about this? It seems even the pro 2nd ammendment guys aren't talking about it? Your thoughts?
I have seen it recently but can't off the top of my head remember what news site I was on. I think it should be talked due to the fact there are many people out there willing to work this line of duty (being armed in schools) especially me. I also heard of a story of a Marine wearing his dress blues to a school and standing watch all day there unarmed. His presence alone would make kids feel safer but we don't see that on the news either.
Every news outlet only cares about ratings. Children being killed equals ratings. Rednecks hating gays equals ratings. A security guard shooting a gunman...nobody cares. It is what it is.
That's unfortunately true. The only place I have seen it is on my facebook feed posted by pro-gun outlets that I follow.
I have seen it through a FB feed from The New American via a friend. Here is the link: Colorado School Shooting Fails to Generate Media Buzz If it does not meet a media outlet's agenda, it will not be publicized.
And that is why it won't make 30+ pages here ...I will be shocked if this thread get 2 pages ...no one disagrees with why, so there is no point - counter point... It is a horribly messed up world ... led by the media
Its probably becaue a scary AR-15 "assault rifle" wasn't used and instead a shotgun. Itd kinda make the VP's comments look more dumb then they already are. Referring to his solution of taking a double barrel shotgun and firing warning shots into air to scare away intruders.
a few reasons; for either side of the spectrum: The left won't cover it because- the kid was a devoutly rabid outspoken Socialist he didn't use a handgun or a black rifle A good guy with a gun stopped a bad guy with a gun...in a "gun free" zone None of those 3 facts fit into the anti-gun, anti-tea party narratives The right leaning media did cover those facts and the story in general for a day or 2, but that storyline didn't grab much traction b/c the lapdog left media wouldn't report the inconvenient truth. They then let the story fizzle out since the right leaning media doesn't typically exploit the dead bodies of children or other tragic events in order to push an agenda.
