You will have to do "some" work on every broadhead after you shoot a deer with it. especially when you shoot them in the spine and neck! Fixed blade broadheads have to be resharpened or replaced. Its just an o ring.......BTW, I have killed 18 in a row with a rage 2 blade. have not lost a deer! That's results worthy of a little O ring!
Hey I think I see what you mean. The only thing is the o-ring is expected to be replaced. If you look around the rage display you'll see that they sell them. The o ring is really just there to keep the blades from opening until impact. It's not meant to stay put. So its not a faulty design I think you were mislead a little. Some guys put 1 or 2 on their shafts up high and slide them down when they need to be replaced. 1 o-ring for a nice flying arrow that takes a deer = worth it! Good luck buddy!
Kyle, The problem with the rages is the O'ring works exactly as you say the except if you bump the arrow on virtually anything you run the risk of the blade(s) deploying prematurely.....some put a rubber band on the outside of the blades in the valley....side view blades retracted you will notice a ridge on the ouside edge of blades some guys put a small orthadontist type rubberband to help prevent this happening. The sport is difficult enough without things such as this to complicate matters...thinking of premature deployment etc. 100% Concentration and be patient! Rages are very effective and do a great job when they work properly... They will serve you well its just some people don't want to admit they can be sensitive...make sure you have plenty of clearance around you and simulate different positions for possible shots! Hope this helps and stay with it that corn is delishous to deer.... Just like Prime Rib & Rib Eye to us or of course Backstraps! Good Luck, Let us know how you do! One shot replace blades!!
The bloodrunners are a nasty head man your gonna leave one hell of a hole. Defiantly go with the 2 blade
The Red River! Personally I shoot Muzzy fixed blades, but I filmed one of our team members shoot a doe this mornning and was extremely impressed with the blood trail. Or should I say Blood River!! I may make the switch next year.
AMEN!! or broke will post a picture of the Titanium's bent and one broke later tonight!!! then they tell you that it is cause of your easton axis arrows.
Yesterday I killed #20 in a row without losing one with a Rage 2 Blade. The blood trail was typical for Rage broadheads. So good I let my wife track it! If you are going to avoid Rage because of an o ring or the fact that you can't just jam them in your quiver then I guess you better shoot a fixed blade. But then you will have to come up with all new excuses.............
Personally I dont think $40 is too much to ask for 3 broadheads that I know will do there job! I also never re-use a rage after it is passed thru a deer so I never have a problem with replacing o-rings! Ive shot 6 deer with the rages and have had only 1 go out of range to where i couldnt watch him fall, leaving one hellacious blood trail. Firm believer here and willing to pay the $40 for a new pack everytime!!
I was using meat seekers and they too have a rubber band. I didn't make the change to bloodrunners because of the rubber band, I made the change because I didn't like concept of the opening and while turkey hunting, if I bumped it, the blade would come out from the rubber band, therefore I didn't feel 100% confident. With blood runners I do. If it's the rubber bands you're so worried about, go to your local dentist and get a pack of braces o-rings. They are like $2-$3 a pack for 100 or so. So really, cost isn't that much of a factor. Use the head because you're confident in it, not because it has an o-ring. Tens of thousands of people use rage without any problems whatsoever. Numbers don't lie. It's a good head.
rage's are great when they work and and suck when they don't, as with most things. If you have to switch do it.
Forget about the stupid o-rings and go with Spitfires. This is one serious expandable broadhead that leaves a gaping hole! No o-rings to worry about, and it opens every time. I use them when I'm meat hunting with my CB.
x2!!! spitfire maxx are the best broadhead out there. rage are cheep flimsy garbage. only thing that company did right is their marketing!!!!!! ok their actually not that bad but i prefer the spitfire
Heart shot a doe yestarday. My arrow was 8 inches in the ground and stuck in some roots. Pulled it out and looked almost brand new. So much for the flimsy BS.
put it through a shoulder then come talk to me. if you find your deer have fun gutting it probably be 3 razors in the cavity ready to slice you
