Not necessarily, the higher you go, the more limbs are below you....(possibly)

Nice pics and great point about the blood trail.

I like to hunt around 20 - 25 feet. I find in the early season.. too many leaves for the areas I hunt to go any higher. Once the leaves fall, I can see a ton more however, shots would be very close due to the branches.

Only time I did not like hunting high is when I fell 20-21 feet to the ground. :(

"PM GMMAT or Virgina Shadow, they have it figured out and post lots of pics of big bucks. They are pretty good guys and will probably be glad to let you in on their secrets. "

I have one thing figured out..humility. Listening to you is like listening to a guy at a poker table that calls his friends on his cell phone and brags every 10 minutes about how much money he is winning...."hey guys I am up $10,000!" After the 5th, 6th, or 19th time the guy lets everyone know about his winnings, the rest of the players on the table just want to tell the guy to eat it.

Hunting from high up is a great tactic but in order to make things a bit more challenging, I hunt from below ground level. I'd post up some success pics but I'm too tired from digging. Maybe later.

"Guys like you are easy to figure out; people that aren't successful, hate to see those of us that are successful. So to make up for your short comings, you feel the need to chastise and put down others that are successful. It would just be more mature and manly, to just post up some info, such as your big bucks, some great knowledge and tips, and to educate others on how to be a better bow hunter, like I and others do, instead of just making dumbass posts to get your post count up. Seriously, let's see some kills and some tips on bow hunting. Do you even know how to hunt, or are you just naturally a smart ass and moron all of the time. You know a simpler thing to do, is quit being so envious and just accept who you are, a guy that doesn't know how to hunt. You could even just skip my posts, since it irritates you to the fact that you don't know how to bow hunt, and I do.:D "

I have never chastised anyone for being succesful...never. I merely pointed out the obvious about your posts. It is always about more more more more more more more more more more more. I am succesful every single time I step in the woods. Your post highlighted in blue sums up your mentality beautifully.

And these quotes are wonderful, simply hillarious:

" I can just look at land, and I think like a deer does and I know how they will move through any given woods."

" It would just be more mature and manly, to just post up some info, such as your big bucks, some great knowledge and tips, and to educate others on how to be a better bow hunter, like I and others do"

Because being a man involves those things.....Your pompous self appreciating rear end just doesn't get it. I will heed your advice and not click on one of your "teaching" posts in the future.

I guess I just don't have the time to put into it. You must be a single guy with a lot of time to concentrate on hunting. If I didn't have a wife or girlfriend, I think I would be a better hunter.

I climb higher then average I would say..........rarely over 25 feet and only in my Summit......lock ons set at +/- 20 depending on the tree. I would rate it as a double edge sword, I think I can "get away" with more up that high but the angle of entry is a definite negative IMO. Sure if you get a lung+heart you are golden but when you don't the margin of error drops off REALLY fast.......not to mention the shots in close 10 yards or less can suddenly become pretty dicey to pull off. I don't worry much about perfect shots----more so the ever so subtle "misses"..............and no passthrough is 100 times worse to track from up high.

I can count on no hands the number of truely double lunged passthrough deer I have seen shot and leave a lack of blood and not be found. A double lunged deer can not go far enough for me not to find him. ;)

I did shoot one through one lung and center punched the heart and almost didn't find him because arrow hit opposite shoulder and didn't passthrough........almost no blood.

Again, not my experience..........a double lunged deer is expelling blood with each forceful breath in addition to what is just pouring out the holes. I have yet to see one leave very little on the ground.

    Agree 100%

    As for this.....
If a closed system (engine or circulatory) is not under any pressure then certainly the fluid (oil or blood) will drain best due to gravity out the bottom. Now, pressurize that system with a running (oil pump or heart) and the story changes.........that system will leak wherever you punch a hole in it.

I hunt high because I think it gives me an advantage...........I do think that height and shot quality are inversely related. I would love to be able to hunt at 30 feet and have the sight picture of broadside on the ground :)

I hope that doesn't make me an unsuccessful, smart ass moron.

Those are some great pics and that doe is a cow!

I usually hunt from 16"-20". Not because I think that is the best hight, because I'm scared to go any higher.

Hey Don, its been a while. Can you post up some more pictures of yourself, and your backpack, and green bow, and black bow, and new bow, and old bow, and canoe, and boat, ( the ones with the fancy paint job), and your wall tent, and your arrows, and your old 4x4, and your tats, and your treestands, and your blinds, and that girl that calls herself a hotty. lol.

Remember when there was a poll here and 2/3 majority thought you were best suited to AT?? Those were some fun times.

Remember when Iowa was the ONLY place to live and hunt, but then Iowa sucked and Colorado was the new Utopia. Ahhh, but alas, Colorado soon took a back seat to the new promised land of New Mexico! Land of more hunting opportunity than the rest of us wannabe's could ever imagine. But that too ended in dissolution so to speak. And now Iowa is blessed again to have the honor of hosting one of the best hunters to grace our state. You really have come full circle and grown so much. Especially your head.

The groundhog day reference was probably missed by many (including you) but was so flipping hilarious and accurate. You share the distiction of the only person I have ever seen on any sight bump a post of pictures of yourself. Priceless.
