I've been out for about 11 sits so far this season (opened Sept 18th). It doesn't sound bad, but last year I had 30 sits at this time. So why the difference? Work!

Usually I have nothing but time in the fall, but we had a number of projects around the resort that were on the list this summer & fall. The biggest one was the design & construction of a new Sauna. I finished the sauna last week, so I thought I'd share photos from the project.

For starters, here is the old sauna that I was replacing. I kept it in place and operational until the new one was nearly done, allowing the resort to have a functioning sauna as long as possible.

So, I started building the new one off site.

    Floors...

    Then the framing began...

    Then framing the roof...

    Sheathing...

Then siding, window, door and roofing...

Then it was getting close enough to completion, and slow enough at the resort to make the big move.

    So, out with the Old...

New home for the old sauna, using it as a storage shed....

Here's the vacated spot and the new floating pads....

I really enjoyed this project. I started in August, but getting good chunks of time to work on it while running the resort is just plain hard to do. So now I'm glad it's done, and happy with how it turned out. Our owner's like it too, which is good :tu:

So next week I'm running heated waterlines and re-plumbing 3 cabin for winter use, then I'm done with the big projects and can hunt full time... just in time!

Looks good! It's a good feeling knowing you built something from the ground up, especially when it turns out as well as that did

Your floors do look awesome T! It's really nice to cross a big project off the list.

Now if I could just get a shorter list....

    :D

I love your log stairs, I'd love to learn more about how you did that.
