I guess the challenge aspect, because (atleast in my area), killing ANY buck would take pretty much no skill set or extended time logged on stand. Deer aren't hard to come by here, and small bucks are the dumbest animals of the deer herd. Up the challenge level a bit I guess.

Plus, who doesn't like a big rack?

First off - I still enjoy shooting any deer with bow - just love it. For Whitetails it's because I love big antlers and they are a major bonus when harvesting. 3.5 month bow season in IL - so my love of big antlers makes it easy to pursue and wait for the biggest...I can shoot plenty of does along the way to call my harvest urge.

For other animals that I would travel out of state for - typically a 1 week hunt - I have no desire to wait for the biggest, I just want the whole experience which would include tagging and eating any animal that gets me excited to shoot, and if I get a crack at big antlers - just a bonus.

Because if I only wanted to kill just any buck I wouldn't get to hunt very much before being tagged out.

Also note that my definition of big depends on where I am hunting & how much time I have that season. "Big" in PA would probably get passed on in OH.

I just don't care about antlers. Eating my kill is my reward.

Count me in to, Ill take the bigger everytime. How many people will look at a mount on the wall and say woah, he was ( this ) old OR will they be more apt to comment on a Bigger Rack :deer:

guess i feel that the big ones are more difficult to arrow and i wanna pit myself against the best in whatever i do. i dont mind failing but hate making the same mistakes twice. i dont think large bucks/old does put up with these slips im talking about for long before they book to the next area. ultimately i guess it helps me gage if i learned anything from the past.

I voted other. I do it for the challenge because the bigger they are the older they are which makes they wiser and harder..

Where's the "i don't" option? This will be my first year bowhunting, and all I want to do this year, ams probably next year is shoot something. Doe, buck, not really concerned about big antlers. At least not yet. All I'm looking for is something mature.

More time in the woods chasing giants means less time listening to the wife. Why else??!!

Because i like to spend $400 every spring when my mount is done, i like my wall decorated with deer heads, and most importantly it impresses girls.

All of the above. Personal challenge is probably the biggest reason though.

Been a Big Buck Freak since the age of 4, the first time I seen one. Are they more challenging, well sure!
Bragging rights? I like to rub it into the wife and kids every now and the when I kill one bigger than theirs, but the bottom line is, I was eat up with big bucks befor the wife, kids, or the internet.
So I'm in the same group as Tim, Greg/Mo, and the Crickster I just like big antlers!

I just think they are cool, and i think it is even cooler to kill one. Age, size, etc...is cool, but there is just simply less of them. There is one fact that can be written in stone when it comes to big racks, there are simply fewer of them in the woods compared to does, and smaller racks. When you get one, wheter it is skill, luck or whatever you have done something unique for your woods.
