I have lived in a few places in Louisiana and now live on the Alabama/Georgia line and I hate to say it but the numbers for the southern states look to low to be right. Meth is everywhere here.
I live one county north of the biggest meth producing county in the Country (At least at one point). Meth is a big deal around here but we too have restrictions on sudafed and either need a prescription or have to buy it over the counter based on location. It doesn't seem to be near as big of a deal, at least in the news since they implemented the restrictions. But like others have said, it's easy to make, there are tons of hiding spots especially when you get back in the woods and we have an unlimited supply of white trash. I don't go into the woods without some heat on my hip.
Why would you do a drug that literally EATS AWAY AT YOUR FLESH!! Like you said it amazes me what people do
Holy crap my state is in third I used to have trouble with meth heads cooking on my lease, it finally stopped several years ago!
Desperation. Sunday night saw the first krokodil user brought into my ER, and we were all baffled. Apparently, when you're addicted to heroin but can't afford it, you get creative. Sent from my HTCEVOV4G using Tapatalk now Free
were yall able to help the patient because I cant see a lot of things that you can do if your flesh and tissue and muscles are dead?
Well, this clown had basically taken oxycontin and cooked it down with some relatively harmless household items. Once he got nice and doped up, he discovered the internet. After some random Google searching, he found some images of krokodil, and promptly freaked out. We managed to calm him down, but we couldn't do anything for the underlying problem. Turns out modern medicine still can't fix stupid. Sent from my HTCEVOV4G using Tapatalk now Free
The amount of meth around here is ridiculous. There are so many pockets of run down communities around here that the problem is everywhere. I don't even pay attention to news of meth busts anymore because I hear about them at least a couple times a week . I guess that's what happens when there are very few decent jobs around here and a bunch of lazy ****s sitting at home all day in their run down shacks.
Spoiled by living off entitlement programs that's just enough to eat so they supplement their incomes with quick money. Socialism at it core and do you think they ever get real jobs now?:-/
The map is misleading. Where the Midwest is filled with small shake and bake (one bottle methods) that produce minor amounts of meth, the super labs are still mainly in California and Utah, but by the looks of the map, aren't reporting much. Also, some states report components of a meth cook as a "lab" through the NCIC system where other states will only report it as a lab if all the components are found. There are those who "smurf" (send others to buy their pseudo tabs for them in multiple stores), but most states that have pseudo laws find their biggest problem is along the lines with the neighboring states that do not have pseudo laws. Methamphetamine is one of the most, if not the most, addictive illegal drug out there. I had a neighbor who lost his wife (she had a heart attack while high on meth), but also lost his home, his job and his children because of his use of it. He was given multiple chances in rehab and failed them all. He started using meth in 1995 at the age of 30. Now, he looks like he's 90 and a walking skeleton covered with sores. His eldest daughter is a meth addict on the streets and his other daughter is in prison for selling the crap. It destroys not only people, but families and communities.
Its not just shake and bake I've had 2 neighbors less than a 100 yards from my house busted with full fledge operations in their homes. I work with a guy that spent 5 years in prison for cooking and it wasn't shake and bake. I've even had family members hooked on the stuff. It's an epidemic. Is the midwest just doing a better job catching them or is it more frequent? Idk but it is destroying lives and I hope all those that cook would get caught and go to prison for life or die from their own poison. Makes me no difference. A friend from high school got busted for cooking recently. He was quoted in the newspaper saying he was as addicted to the manufacturing process and the chemical reactions/science of the process as he was the drug itself. I found that to be quite bizarre, but apparently that is quite common.
It is everywhere. Randy Travis brother just got busted cooking. I've arrested dozens of Meth users. They cant seem to get off it once they start.
I see it all the time up and down the Ohio Valley. Wife and I drove from NC to Ohio last summer. What stood out the most was the mass of underemployeed and run down swath through NC, Virginia, WV and into Ohio. I've seen the same in the midwest also. Towns were half filled with meth looking folks suffering from poverty. I've traveled all through this great county and its shocking how bad the hinterlands have been abandoned by the coastal elite. I see only convenience stores, tatoo parlors and dollar stores in so many areas. No jobs and young people making bad choices. Really sad
