Is it just me or do my topo maps stink? Even when i am closest it is still like a mile away and it seems like the lines are 50 ft apart. It just seems like they do me little to no good at all. I see all these other amazing topo maps where they are within 50 ft and the lines are 2 ft apart. Where on gods earth are you getting them so amazingly detailed!!!?!??!?! Even mine from mytopo.com are that way. See-[IMG]

I'm not familiar with MO GIS data, but I did find a download for a DEM arcinfo file: link

LiDAR data isn't accessible for Nodaway or Gentry county yet either: Missouri LiDAR Data

They don't look great in my opinion.

someone on this site pointed me to this site last year (http://mapper.acme.com/) and it has been awesome. I really like the "Terrain" view. I used this to print out my own maps for the areas I hunt. I did the terrain view and then the satellite image for the exact same view. Worked amazing.

See the attached image for an example of the terrain view.

Did you consider your land is level and thus there are no contour lines?

Keep in mind. Alot of on-line topo maps are 20' contour interval maps. Meaning, there will only be a line for every 20' of elevation change. If your land is flat, there won't be hardly any lines.

People that seem to have very detailed topo maps are hunting hilly areas.

Could you post your map and we can take a look at it?

Edit: Apparently I can see his Topo map. Must be blocked at work.

kwaldeier, that topo does not look that bad. If you feel comfortable reading a topo, then that original topo should be sufficient enough to gather information that will positively affect your hunts. Now if you are looking for a topo that has a clearer resolution, that is a different story.

Stunt, I agree with you. That terrain view with the contour lines is a great way to get started looking at topos. It provides the hunter with a chance to really put some meaning into what those contour lines/angles mean in a setting they already understand visually (hills/mountains/rivers/etc).
