Justin do you ever leave stuff out of your web show because it might be too controversial or just not look good? Or do you tend to show everything (100%) because it is legal and that is hunting and who cares what anyone thinks.
We leave stuff out if we don't feel that it portrays hunting or hunters in a good light or if we feel it sends the wrong message to young or inexperienced hunters. A very tasteful picture of a hunter with their kill doesn't fall into any of these categories IMO. If you, or other people, feel that it does then we'll agree to disagree. For years hunters have preached the importance of tasteful harvest photos. No back of the truck, tongue hanging out, blood all over the place images that may upset non-hunters. Now we're asked to forego even the standards we once imposed on ourselves in favor of simply shutting up and sweeping them under the rug. It's an awful slippery slope we're on.
She never forgot the Christmas of '98. When toys r' us ran out of the easy bake ovens. It all lead to this.
Apparently you do, because you don’t think she should have. That “giraffe burger” bit proves it. Since when do you have to justify hunting based on if you eat it or not? When did THAT become a criteria? It’s not. We hunt animals all the time and don’t eat them. You call it a trophy hunt, then say you don’t mind trophy hunts...this was a legal hunt, and all the meat was eaten, regardless of if she “filled her freezer”. That pic was clean, bloodless and well shot. And it should make no more difference than anyone of us posting a bear, hog or deer.
Dang it I found another terrible picture of an endangered African animal. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
Exactly this- since when is taking your daughter across the world to show them other cultures, socioeconomic dynamics, contributing massively to the local economy and food bank "spoiling" said child? This kid (and by extension her family) are doing God's work and having fun doing it. There's literally nothing this kid's parents could do to make her realize and appreciate how privileged and rare her upbringing is than physically expose her to rural areas of Africa. As to charity, some people watch an infomercial and see some emaciated kid with flies on its face; get all teary eyed for 30 seconds and write a check to whitepriveledge.org, or if they're really motivated went out and organized a canned goods drive. This kid and her family actually went over there and did something. Got their hands dirty a little. Sure they had fun doing it and get to bring home a beautiful pelt for their trouble, but 2000lbs of fresh lean meat to donate to the local village is no small feat. If you think about it, that pic was as tastefully done as any I've seen while giving the viewer a realistic idea of the massive scale of the animal- giraffes are what, 18' tall? How else was she supposed to get it all in frame? And given the massive weight and difficulty in posing over 3000# of dead weight; that's the position it was in when it died. Do a quick Google image search of "sleeping giraffes" and there's a high probability it died in exactly that position. Good lord, guys. We're hunters. We kill stuff and (hopefully) somebody eats it. If Precious succeeds in demonizing imagery of a clean humane kill of -whatever- species, then the hunting of all species is susceptible to demonization. Be prepared to defend your sport in public or be prepared to lose it. BTW, nothing special about a giraffe. Descended from pronghorn antelopes. I don't see anyone on here griping at Dustin Decroo.
This was a trophy hunt. I don't care that it was a trophy hunt. You brought up the fact that some people eat giraffe. I simply said she's not there so she can bring back giraffe short ribs for her 4th of July bbq. Which is fine. Hunting for the sole purpose of food isn't a prerequisite, I never said it was. I didn't even say I disliked the picture.
Unfortunately, all I have to go by is his posting on this topic. I disagree with him as strongly as possible. This was a legal hunt. The info about it is that this was a giraffe past breeding age at the end of his life, and he was taken fair chase. Labeling her, the hunter, as a “spoiled rich brat” is ridiculous and insulting. I know people that hunted in Africa. Many in this forum have. They deserve better than to be labeled because they can do so. And what someone does for a living is not evident in a post, so it can’t be taken into consideration. I’m sure we have much in common as hunters. But in this case, we don’t.
That is clearly a jaguar, native to south/Central America. You can tell by the spots inside the rosettes. If you can focus long enough to see said spots. Either way, she's a man eater!
