I hate all the ones I have dealt with. Recently my lady took the tahoe in because she was interested in a vehicle there. They would not give her an idea on a trade it without knowing the payoff. Payoff does not matter in wanting to know the trade in value.
I was able to get a better model that had everything I wanted at the same price. So I'm pretty happy.
When I ask for a vehicle with this and that I have no trouble getting the vehicle I wanted. Of course, I have been with the same dealership for 16 years and the same salesman for that period too.
I honestly hate them so much, they come running when your simply just stopping to look at a car. It got so bad when I was car shopping that my buddy and I would drive the car lots at 2 am just to avoid them.
I always research out my cars before I ever get to a salesman and I'm always more knowledgable about the vehicle than they are. Sad. I was ready to buy a new suburban last week and after spending some time explaining to the salesmen what I'm looking for he's never gotten back with me. I'll keep my 2002 now
I stopped at a dealership yesterday at my wife's request to look at a ford explorer. I had to laugh when he asked for my name and telephone number 3 seconds into the conversation.
There's no reason to haggle with the salepersons anymore. Get an online quote from several dealerships and let them know you are comapring quotes with other dealerships. The quote will list every possible option right down to the type tires. It puts you in control instead of some cigarrette puffing vulture of a salesman.
Frankly they are a "Salesman" and there are many will tell you what you want to hear. This is where contracts come into play. You write down what you expect 'this vehicle with backup cam' at this price. You then have the law on your side. OTOH, do your homework, so you don't get the short end of the deal...you test drove the car, looked at the vehicle or package options, right? Know the price of the vehicle, the value of any trade ins, what you want to pay out of pocket, what you might finance and the best interest rate. These are all bargaining chips. Last vehicle I bought I got the car I wanted at the price I wanted and they even got me a better rate (1.8% on a used car no less) and I can tell you roughly what the sales guy made and the dealer made...all parties satisfied.
Hoiw can you tell when most car salesman (or laywers) are lying ? . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .Their lips are moving !!!! (note: I used to sell cars for about 2 years !!! LOL)
