Why? Why can't any of them get simple questions right? Why do they say "yes" when I ask them 5 times if the vehicle has a back-up camera, but when it comes time to deliver the vehicle, it does not have a back-up camera? Sorry for all the rants this morning.
You get the good and the bad. I've noticed those not in management or ownership eventually move on to bigger better things.... Or they suck as you described and stick with it lol. Kind of like complaining about service at fast food... That said, I feel your frustration. I am collecting quotes for a new Tacoma, and the different ways they try and push their inventory on you is hysterical. I call/walk in for a price on a Crew Cab Pyrite Mica 4x4 Tacoma in the standard package and TRD package..... I don't care about the navy blue tundra outside nor how many gray Tacomas you have. Give me a price on the one I asked for or ill buy elsewhere. It's not my fault you grossly overstocked your lot and are now trying to clear out for the next batch.
When I bought my Tacoma, the local dealership called me a liar and told me that I would "never make it in this town" because they ordered the wrong vehicle.
Just lay down the law. They wanted 15500 for my truck and wouldnt budge on price, deals...ect. I said..im gone..call me tomorrow and offer me what i want (14k with good interest rate). They want the sale. They called.
Out of all the vehicles I have bought there have only been 2 guys I would go back to. All the others have been pieces of crap D-bags losers and the only reason they are selling cars is because the electronics store fired them.
Exactly. Give them a reasonable offer. Tell them to call if they want the sale. If not, then go to the next one. It's only when you NEED a vehicle that they have the upper hand.
I don't really like buying cars because I hate haggling, but I've never had a real problem with a car salesman. If they are a jerk, I just go elsewhere.
Two words for you. Internet Sales. Don't bother going to a dealership or talking to a salesperson until you have the final and best price for the exact model you want. Wife was on hiatus this past feb between jobs. She decided she wanted a new 2013 nissan pathfinder. They are now a glorified station wagon. She wanted black only an SL version with AWD and roof racks. Pretty simple, everything was standard per Nissan. She drives one, finds one she thinks she likes and calls me all excited. That night I go to the dealership against my wishes and the D-Bag salesperson pulls the car around. First thing I notice is that its not AWD. Deal breaker right there. However, more importantly, i instantly felt anger at the fact they lied to her. I immediately started to walk away. Salesperson obviously did not have the car and was hoping she would overlook the AWD. I went home and requested quotes online. Two days later she had her new car, exactly how she wanted it. Interior, exterior colors, AWD, Trim level and options. Simply went to the dealership to pick it up. It was prepped and ready upon our arrival. To boot the price was 3 grand less then the first place even though it was AWD and had one or two factory options such as tow package. The irony was on our way home, we stopped to eat and the first dealership called. I was smuggly satisfied to tell them we had closed the deal already. Stepping foot in the dealership is pointless. Go once to drive the model you want, then don't bother with salespeople again. Same deal with financing, trade-ins or anything. Avoid the dealer except for taking the inventory you want off their hands.
I did all the haggling and questions through e-mail. And today as he was about to get ready to deliver the vehicle, he called to make sure everything was in order, and as I was running through the list of things that the car needed to have for the 5th time, he finally noticed that the car did not have a back-up camera.
