The Boone and Crockett club starting measuring antlers in the early 1900's...here is some history I got from their website: In 1932, Prentiss N. Gray, a long-time Club member, authored the first big-game records book of the Club titled, Records of North American Big Game. It was published with the cooperation of the National Collection of Heads and Horns. The measurements were quite simple, the length of skull, or the longer antler or horn, plus a basal circumference.
May have been, but they would have changed awfully fast (I wouldnt be surprised if the standards for entry get changed in the near future) It wouldn't make since if every deer in the upper 50th percentile made it in the books, pretty much defeats the purpose.
Well ya gotta draw the line somewhere Jeff or every buck shot would make books. The system from what I understand was to award the buck that had the greatest symmetry along with the size of rack. It Is what It Is, limits have to be made somewhere.
Maybe that came out wrong, I just remember everyone looking around and not wanting to talk about Penis Size. It was a short discussion, damn I mean quick discussion.
So in layman's terms I guess if "we" had one of these clubs it would maybe be called the "Jeremy & Holmes Club"? Wanna weigh in on this Ron, uh, oh, I mean Rob?
