I've been a church going christian for 30+ yrs, raised in a christian home, went to christian schools, saved at age 13, etc...

I gotta call BS on that. if I don't speak in tongues I'm not ~really~ saved?? that is some major league BS brotha!

    Really, Bobby?

And, you don't think that's segregating/class envy talk?

Not to mention that it is not Biblical.

Speaking in tongues is the exception, not the rule.

Call it what you will, but until you experience it, you really don't know what its all about. If you ever truly seek God with all your heart, He will open your understanding. One day I called it bologna and scoffed. Now, I know. Never said anyone was unsaved. I will say, there is only ONE true plan of salvation, and tons of people who will not accept it for various reasons. First and foremost is tradition, then pride, and the unwillingness to totally submit ones life to God. Search your heart.

i'm trying really hard not to be sarcastic/mean/etc., so please don't take it that way, but that is a REALLY condescending view of christianity bro... it ~sounds~ as though you're saying if you don't speak in tongues your not as "good of a christian"... pretty sure you don't intend that, but damn if it doesn't sound that way...

I agree there is but one path. Accept christ as lord and savior. period. speaking in tongues, baptism, lord's supper, praying to mary, observing lent, and all that extraneous stuff is exactly that, extraneous stuff... irrelevant to your salvation.

Why shouldn't others scoff at your notion, Bobby? Isn't that what you're doing to their beliefs?

Uhh...I cannot create dogs, and I certainly cannot build a car.

BUT if I told my dog to sit and he didn't, I think sentencing him to eternal damnation is a little harsh. Thats just me though. Its fun when we are allowed to have our own opinions.

Nope, sorry, but if you have not experienced it, you can not truly understand. Its real, and I am not an idiot who goes around babbling junk to folks Tony. I am a grwn man, with a better than average IQ. Oh yeah, its real. I hope one day you allow yourself to see.

No Seven, that is not at all what I am saying.

I don't even look at half of that as Biblical, cause its not. The only "plan" of salvation was what the disciples taught. Go read ACTS 2:38 and the scriptures around it as well. These were the guys who actually walked and were taught first hand what Jesus wanted them to teach/preach. Kinda silly if folks would preach anything else. That is the beginning of knowledge when one obeys that plan. Opens up a whole new life.

Bobby .... you REALLY need to study it out ... tongues were for a sign to the UNBELIEVING JEW that the Messiah and salvation had come to Israel ... then it was a sign TO THE JEW that salvation was available to the gentiles .... study your Bible ....

The fruit of the Spirit has NOTHING to do with tongues ..... devil worshipers speak in tongues too, yaknow ... does that mean they have the Spirit of God?

Oh, they do scoff Jeff. I know its hard to believe for some.

I am not scoffing. Just stating that I know the way, and if there was another way, I would still be searching.

Never is a long time Hooker. I wonder if your wife has that same point of view. Not just the external front that can easily be put on, but deep down. Ask her if she were to ever be a part of any church or faith, what would it be. You might be surprised.

Exactly Vito. You can not "create" anything. And the reason you can neither make your dog to sit, (except he obey you) is because you did not create him. He has a free will to either obey or disobey, just like me and you. But, if you had created him, he would know his creator and be more mindful of what his creator had the power to do.

See thats where our beliefs differ. I believe my parents created me, and I am very respectful of them, and did my best to obey them.

Our beliefs differ, and thats okay.

What you say in bold is true Tony. But, it is still happening today. I know it is because, I have experienced it and so has my whole family (10 people in my extended family). How can a man deny it when it happens and you know it is real?

The part I colored red is correct as well, and I agree that many are out there imitating and being charismatic. The devils believe there is one God, and tremble as well. There will be many who claim they have done this or that, and many will do wonders. Only those who have been born again and actually do the Word will enter heaven. Its all right there in the Book.

so you are saying it's faith AND works? Wrong .. its by faith ALONE! It's God that works thru the believer .... we submit to HIM ...

I am saying that the Word says we are to be hearers and doers of the Word. And, it also says to show your faith by your works. Faith by itself is dead. I agree about God working thru the believer, if we submit to Him.

    I'm ok with that.

I didn't mean it as a derogatory statement. Trust me.

I just can't grasp why a particular...or particular sect of Christians think their way is the only way. Like I said earlier, I think God's probably a little more subjective than some give him credit for.

In order for the billion people I referenced earlier (and you also addressed) to NOT be damned to Hell, you HAVE to think that way. They're not following your same path. Yet, you feel there's salvation for them.

I just can't grasp why Christians aren't more tolerant of others' beliefs (who are also Christians). Some even scoff at things outside the parameters of what they THINK they know.

I'd never tell you my way is the ONLY way. I don't know that. And, it would be highly arrogant and offensive to many.

    Merry Christmas.
