If the wind swings around far enough & comes out of the NW tomorrow morning & the rain is done....I'm going to be pretty happy with where I plan to hunt. Well as pleased as I can get this early in the season. I still think it'd be next to a miracle for me to see a shooter before the seek/chase period.

I'm leaving for Illinois this evening Tony. I just hope we can get there. We have had a LOT of rain the last 2 days.

But just because I'm hunting doesn't mean I can't keep an eye on you. ;)

If I can get across the 2 low water creek crossings tonight I plan on hunting all weekend. The weather should be good for deer movement, that's for sure.

The problem is, there won't be any low water for a while around here. I have a buddy checking on it for me right now. He said they had 6.5 inches of rain there since Wednesday night.

Yeah, if we get much more rain up here I'm going to need to buy my chickens some some flippers and snorkels.

    Good luck out there!

How many people on here have consistently put down a good buck on or around October 10th?

I have killed one buck the first week(around October 9th--7 point) of the season since 2001. That is it.

"But....none of the ones I've shot prior to Halloween would get an arrow from me, now. "

Me either Jeff. But at that point in 2003, that was only my second archery buck of all time, so that scrawny 7 point ate the dust. :)

In previous posts, I posted that the buck I killed last year was on 10/18. Looking through my phone yesterday, I saw the texts that went back and forth between me, Rob, Matt, and Dan that morning.........I realized that it was actually 10/11.

I'm pulling for the Preacherman, and if he's feeling confident I like his odds.

Jim IV is hunting his new unpressured land in OK this weekend. I wouldn't be a bit surprised to see him drop one!

He'll be with me Monday evening and Tuesday, I have a buck with his name on it and it's walked past my one stand 4 nights straight. He'll be left alone until Monday and Preacherman will be there waiting on him with me behind the camera. :D

Rob's gonna be at my camp late tonight for a hunt tomorrow morning and evening. Not sure yet where we are going to hunt, we have one of those weird north winds that we typically only see once or twice a year. I bet we will see deer though....;)
