Switching jobs bumped me from a 15 day elk/mule deer hunt next month. Trying to line up Alaska black bear next spring and returning to Arizona for coues next winter.

Redoing my house this year didn't let me join in on the points game, so hope to dive into that this coming year once I figure out a strategy that works for me.

That is awesome! There are some giant bulls in those flat tops units.

Scott that is a bummer but work comes first. Sounds like a good plan going into next year though, good luck!

Make it happen! You won't be disappointed! I'll be out there the 14th through the 25th.

It was a necessary trade off, but it still stings lol. Looking at the schedule today, I might actually be able to pull off another quick AZ hunt again this year too. Those little Coues deer are addicting!

I am headed for OTC elk in CO in 9 days. The down side is I think my partner is flaking on me and this is turning into a solo trip. The upside, I will be in elk country in 9 days and give it all I can to try to connect. Thank goodness its either sex.

I have had that happen a lot over the years. Seems like it happens more often with DYI trips as guys don't have anything to honor their plans / commitment. More often then not I go plan to alone. With guided hunts they tend to follow through as they have money on the line.

In any event. Go alone, the experience and rewards will be worth it

I spoke with him a few days ago and our 2 wk trip turned into a "I have to be back in 6-7 days" trip. I texted him realistically that would only leave 2 maybe 3 days to hunt. Well not worth the time money and effort that I have put into this trip. So I texted again said I plan on leaving on the 23 or 24 and I will be back around the 10th at the latest if you can make it I hope to see you there. No response. Oh well.

So if anyone is gonna be hunting around lizard head pass the first 2 wks I will see you there.

Drew a West River rifle tag for South Dakota. Tag is good for whitetail or muley

I've had similar experiences with hunting partners, it's tough to find people you can count on.

That is a great tag Beagle! Hopefully you'll get a crack at a big one.

Redemption year. Past three years we have been out there with our bows... Settling the score this time around.
