Anyone going out this afternoon ??

Since the family get togethers have all been called off here until Sunday... I am going to go out. Got a spot in mind that will get me out of the high winds. Gotta see what the old 4 pt is doing for Xmas with all his lady friends in the Grove. I just might have a gift for him if I can get him in range !! :)

The Blizzard was "rain" here. Along with 25-30+ mph wind. It just dropped to below freezing and turned to snow. Ummmmm Snow covered mud. :(
Ask Christine about tractors and mud.

...Boy, it sure is nice here on the couch.

    Good luck to you guys.

Well I saw two deer. A 120 inch 7 pt that I know well and a doe. It was fun to watch them trudge through waste deep snow and bury their heads to get at the alfalfa. It is still really coming down out here. I am excited to go out after the storm blows through. Deer should be pounding the food sources.

Troy they are dropping out there already? To much family stuff. Plus with this snow every minute I get to take a nap I do. I have another all nighter ahead of me.

I had 3 doe come by any where's from 8 yards to 13 yards. No sticken doe tag. :( It is still too early to sacrifice the archery tag that is good for either buck or doe. It actually was pretty nice where I setup so a very enjoyable hunt for blizzard weather. Temps were nice at around 20 degrees. The drive home sucked a little, but I made it. :)

Food sources will be hot spots in the next few days. They are talking windy for the next couple days so I plan on hunting more sheltered spots in the morning when they come back to bed.

Troy... I need a nanny whacker to keep the does off me. You would be a good man for the job !! :) Other then a forky the other night... I've seen more doe then I care too. You can't breathe, blink or even think about it when they are within range. My God are they jumpy. Made for some nerve racking hunts and I don't even have a darn doe tag to let one of them have it for all the grief they put a guy through !!

yeah they are just starting to drop, still a lot packing of course.. but whats different for me here this year than normal is.. I have literally NO snow.. I am gonna go hit some low ground spots where there is no snow and look for old sheds and the ODD new one.. south of me about 100 miles the bucks tend to drop earlier than up here too..so I am gonna spend at least 1 day down there this coming week... no snow in the forcast and 11 more days off.. gotta get in gear if I am gonna try and keep up with the ND boys.. gonna have to go hit it all this year.. whitetail spots, mule deer spots.. elk spots.. I am stoked!

Keep after em Tim I am faithful you are gonna get a shot at a dandy before its over.. I just know it.. Dont let me down!

Yeah those freekin does.. can be a real pain, I never saw it so much as I did in Iowa.. I swear the does out there are so much more conditioned as being hunted versus the bucks that get free passes when they are young.. Those does out there acted like my Idaho bucks ...walking on glass all the time..

Good luck on the shed hunting and scouting. Keep me posted on what you find or see. Make sure you take your digital camera when you head south. I want to see pictures of big bucks and big sheds !!

Trying to talk Tyler into going into the L-Belt tomorrow morning for a hunt. He has shed hunting on his mind already so he would be there more for an inventory check of bucks then shooting one. LOL Wish he would at least drill a doe for the freezer so I could buck hunt up until the very end. We could use a least one more deer for the freezer. Two would be even better !!

Headed to the farm in a little while. No blizzard, but we got about an inch of snow and a lot of wind with temps in the 20's. They should be looking for something to eat this afternoon. And I know where there are a lot of turnips and and some nice green wheat.;)

I hunted some snow and Cold temps in NE the first part of the month. That seems to be the weather I must deal with every time I go out in Dec. This year it snowed for 2 1/2 days and temps were ranging to just above zero down to 20 below.

It was fun and a change of pace for me.
