I'll be hunting Friday night, Saturday morning, Saturday night, Sunday morning leading up to Halloween but then I gotta work on Monday.
Title should read "Who isn't hunting Halloween day" haha. I will most definitely be in a deer stand the 29th, 30th, and 31st.
I will be hunting the 28th through the 31st. I'll be hunting on some public land most likely unless my BIL get me hooked up with the private land he will be hunting. Should be a fun weekend. We are pulling his camper up to the public land and camping the whole time. It will be outside my comfort zone, hunting an area I'm not familiar with, but that should also make it fun too.
I'm not optimistic at this point, starting to look like the cooler weather will be focused on the east coast and northeast leading in to the first week of Nov. After that I expect much of the same as what we have been dealing with, warmth with intermittent cooling for a day or two. Last year I seen a leopard frog hopping through the grass in front of my stand on my first actual day of vacation Nov. 2nd. Climbed down and went into work and switched my vacation to the following week as temps were supposed to climb to nearly 80 each day after. Ended up with fog and drizzle never climbing out of the 60's as I sat at work kicking myself repeatedly. My new vacation was just as warm as the one I tried to avoid Mother Nature hates me and lets me know it all the time
I'll be out, but D & DH says the rut will be a week later than last year so 11/8-11/14 should be peak rut time.
That would work for me too. Have Oct 28-31st off, work 3 days then off the 4th - 13th then will be out with the orange army 18-20th with the handgun and following week will be 4 days for Thanksgiving. Only 13 days I won't be able to hunt out of 34. Of course the deer will have to cooperate for it mean anything
I've killed 2 good bucks on Halloween so I take that day off every year. This year wont be any different.
