Generally Halloween marks the start of all day sits and the transition from Pre-rut to Rut. Falls on a Monday this year and looks like a fairly strong trough/cold front could be moving through along and East of the Mississippi that weekend. Winds might be an issue, but I wouldn't miss it even if I have to hunt low through midday. Might be the weekend for October...
Will likely be mine as well unless the winds are better Friday-Sunday. First year waiting until the end of October to hunt, hoping it pays off.
I'd put 60% chance on a northeast to north wind. Hoping the brunt of the winds are through the weekend and are laying up Halloween day.
I will be out. Halloween is the start of nine straight days in the tree for me! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'll be in a stand or blind all day every day from Oct 27 - Nov 6 unless it's pouring buckets or I've punched both tags.
I'll be out there. Hunting every day between Oct 23rd through Nov 8th. Halloween is the day I'm looking forward to the most. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I have to be out Halloween it's my birthday and that's good luck ! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'll try for a morning hunt Saturday. Our neighborhood has a huge Halloween party and people come from all over to experience it. My family comes to town as well. The kids just have so much fun and our Nieghbor's have kegs and fire pits in the streets. This year I'll have deer chili handing out. Needless to say I there's not a cover scent invented to cover up hangovers
Any guesses on the first two weeks in november's weather? The coldest on the extended forecast i am seeing is high in the low 60s and low in the low 40s. I will probably be out the first time on the 29th or 30th.
The state of Vermont has Youth only weekend, right on Halloween. Unbelievable. I'll be heading over to NY regardless. This year, I will be starting my all day sits around Nov 4th, as the Rut is being predicted to be a little late this year. Not only that, but weather has been warm and mast production, low.
I can't hunt Halloween because of my kids. However, I plan on hunting on the Saturday before, the 29th. Best I can do this year. I get a long weekend over Veteran's Day and Thanksgiving which tend to be better. My experience is that most rut action in where I hunt is between those two holidays.
