Been a tough spring so far, had some complications over the past few weeks with my wife's pregnancy that have kept me off the water. It seems things are better now though with her and our little man so I'm hopeful I'll get out this weekend somewhere close to home for a couple of hours. Water temps are in the high 40's to low 50's, we should have a week of pretty stable weather in the high 50's to low 60's, and I'm sure the bass are starting to move shallow. Hopefully I'll get into a few of the big girls this weekend before they drop eggs. So who's fishing now? What have you caught? I'm living vicariously through your eyes.....stories and pictures are appreciated.
I've been spending a lot of time getting settled into my new place and haven't hit the water yet myself. Hopefully it won't be much longer before I'm wetting a line aswell.
Yeah they are finished spawning. That first pic, that big girl would have been pushing 7 or 8 lbs a month ago.
I went the opening day of trout season, picked up a 20 1/4" brown Haven't been out since. Probably this weekend though.
Or if she was in Caleb's pond it would have been pushing 13-14 lbs a month ago. We have ice here yet too. Sucks balls. I was hoping to get a little fishing in before doing all the field work this spring. Not happening now. We haven't hit 50* air temp yet this year. Supposedly going to be mid 60s by Friday.
I have been a good bit. Not a bad start to the year, other then my first tournament where I zeroed haha. No hogs yet, but a few solid fish. The largemouth was caught in 34 degrees of water, coldest I ever caught one lol. Im not great at the early season stuff, so I was quite proud! Im stuck on the bank for about a month though. Picked up a new (to me) boat, and cant get my trolling motor mounted. Have to wait till my buddy has the time to work his magic, so Im missing out on some good fishing now that the water is finally hitting a good temp!
At first I was wondering why you were lipping a rainbow trout. Then I realized the fish was bleeding out.
You know whats crazy, I looked that fish over good before I released it, and never seen blood. And it was hooked in the lip. And no blood on the carpet of my boat. But that picture sure as heck shows a ton of blood down that fish lol. I dont get it at all. Im not saying it wasnt bleeding, I just dont get how I didnt see it before or after I took the picture. And I dont get how a lip hook would cause that. So odd. I tried to say it was just weird markings, but I know Im not fooling anyone with that lol.
Fishing guides here are still taking reservations for ice fishing until the end if April! I will wait till ice out. http://perchpatrol.com/fishing_report.htm
Took the flyrod out for the first time this season yesterday afternoon for about 20 minutes. Had one rising on the opposite bank (I think Caddis), but no hits.
Been out a few times placed 2nd in a tourney nothing huge yet been kinda busy ...things will surely be heating up soon. Sent from my ADR6300 using Tapatalk 2
