Eastern shore no east side yes lol I see the Sitka start to rut in late September so that will not interfere with the whitetail rut.

You know that you can hunt Sikas at Chincoteague too, don't you? They have 2 archery hunts in October at the Wildlife Refuge and you don't need to get a different license...the biggest issue is getting there since there is no easy way from where we live.

I'm wondering what's so dangerous about these swamps?

For starters it's easy to get lost out there. Also, the mud in the marsh is really soft and sticky which makes it pretty difficult to get out of if you fall in, especially if you are alone. Like Ruger said, I don't think I'd want to be out there alone mainly for safety reasons. It's some nasty country.

Being from Louisiana I'm thinking snakes, alligators, and bears.

Ha! Snakes I'm sure but no alligators or bears that I'm aware of.

Also being from LA I understand where your coming from. It not that kind of danger though. It's more about not knowing the area. It wouldn't be smart to wander into any tidal swamp before daylight without having having some knowledge of the area. What's dry land one day/time won't be the next.
