NOT anywhere close to being even an average recurve archer but my shooting is improving. Here are my 22 yd shots from around 13-14 feet of elevation. I am starting to get groups like this more oftern than not. I have alot of room for improvement but I believe I am on the right track. I am so much more comfortable right now as compared to where I was as a complete newbie recurve archer just one year ago. Last year I didn't feel comfortable shooting from anywhere further than 13-14 yards in the deer woods....this year I believe I have added an additional 3-4 yards to my range, putting me at around the 16-18 yard mark.
Nica shooting Virginia , I've been shooting Trad about 2yrs and you're doing just fine . My max range is 20 yds and that is enough for most game with the right amount of stealth . Keep it up BTW .... what target is that ???
My wife got me that target for fathers day about 2 weeks ago. It is called a Delta Swamp Buck target. Even when I hunted with a compound I did not like to shoot past about 20 yards, so if I can get out to about 16-18 yards with my recurve I can live with that Bails.
Cool, I took up Trad with idea of getting as close as possible, I love it. I've drawn twice, just not released due to circumstances out of my control ,cannot wait till it all comes together. Enjoy.
Looking forward to your success pics Brett sent from my DROIDX 2 using Tapatalk with permission from Germ and to impress others.
Thanks guys. I am actually shooting less this year, but with more focus and precision. I start almost every practice session with 5-10 blank bale type form shots. It has seemed to help a ton.
Traditional bows demand allot of practice every year. Even for the veterans. Good shooting my friend. That target Is similar to one I had. I'll never buy another one like It, fricking plastic legs.
As you can tell from my pictures I have already snapped a carbon arrow off on that darn plastic/metal leg. DANG. I was drilling em from 20 yards today.
Steve, the arrow lodged so tight in the thick plastic that I could not get it out for the life of me. I wiggled it back and forth to loosen it up, but it did not work. So then I got a little ticked off and snapped the sucker. I just re-cut the arrow and made it smaller for my kids to use. I am shooting aluminums this year. I originally went with the 2413's, however I have been playing around with the 2213's and they are shooting great. I had to lower my arrow weight to around 530 grains as compared to 585 with the 2413's. I am still deciding on which set-up to use. In fact, I am shooting two different aluminum set-ups and one carbon set-up out of my bow and all are hitting about the same, except the 2213's seem to be a little more accurate.
Just razing ya Brett. Yeah I put many holes In them plastic legs too. Most times mine would go all the way through so I didn't have to pull and wiggle them out. I lost a few fletchings going through that damn plastic.
