Every year we see the same thread about who will shoot the biggest buck of the year. Not surprisingly, every year it comes from the midwest.

I love huge racks, but it gets me just as excited to see the jawbone of a buck with teeth worn down to the gums and damn near falling out of his head.

So, who do you think will shoot the oldest buck this year?

Mr. Mass has to be getting up there in years!:busted::d

But seriously, will we ever know for sure. I know I'm not an aging expert.

Even a real old Doe would be cool. They get just as smart as the old bucks.

I would think this is kind of a crapshoot (much like who will shoot the biggest buck).

I actually hope I don't shoot the OLDEST buck.

A friend of mine shot a VERY old buck (one of the antlers broken off) a few years ago and the thing was nasty...his butcher wouldn't even process it for him since it stunk so bad.

I want to get one that is in the prime of his life with a huge rack one em.

Troy would be my first pick. After him, I'm not really sure, I'd say that Dan has just as good of a chance as anyone. There really aren't that many places in the country where deer get much older than 5.5 y/o.

Dukemicheals he loves those old swamp bucks. That's where he shines deep in a swamp.

I would say Duke, he loves the mature bucks. Maybe GregH as well, that thing he shot last year was mangy and old with a broken jaw.

I love you guys but I really wish you would just leave me out of these threads. Loads of more equipped hunters in this world.. even on this website.

With that said.. whether its age.. or BIG antlers the hunter needs 2 VERY important things.. TIME.. and ACCESS.

I have WAY less time and WAY WAY WAY less access than needed.

A safe bet is someone like Shed out in Idaho (although as a school teacher it will affect his time).

Perhaps a Hunsucker (as he has seemingly got loads of time on his hands:confused: seriously.. do you work Mike?) as he has access to phenomenal hunting.

I would very easily say in age class all my money is on Greg with and H.. but he lost that location from what I've heard.. and that location had limitless age abound.

And of course one could believe Dan could get it done on age up there in Canada.

Grizz is certainly able to do it.. but alot of Kentucky hunters shoot bucks well before their 3rd birthday. Like any state really.

I will say.. I do have 1 little piece of ground that sits in a swamp about 400 acres in size.. and while the antler size is poor.. age is certainly attainable for some of these whitetail. We'll see if my set-up works.. it involves something I've never done (mock scrape) as my little piece (7 acres within) is NOT any sort of travel route.. so I'm attempting to make it a destination. We'll see.

Whoever does either feat.. my earliest congrats to them..

Now.. please.. leave whats left of my internet name alone. Justin will be making fun of me for months cause of this.

I'm going to kill the biggest, oldest, fattest, ugliest, and yet somehow most beautiful buck the world has ever seen. Lock the thread.

Mike sorry to bring up your name but like it or not you know how to hunt. As for Justin if he gives you crap, just cough when he's ready to shoot. :deer: Just kidding.

When I started this thread I had one thing in mind, to see if the answers were the same as who will shoot the biggest buck and if people were really relating the largest racks to the oldest deer.

There are only two people named in the thread that live outside the Midwest. But, I don't find that too surprising.

    Thanks for playing. :birthday:

Around here a Buick has a better chance than I do, it take a magical buck to make past 3.5 and those that do live in areas that are unhunt able.
But If I lived near one of those areas I certainly would be a line rat and spend my time border watching.
