From my personal experience I have never used a harness incase I fall out of the tree. I've been hunting out of a tree stand for three years now and haven't bought one. Personally I don't think I need it, yeah I could fall out but I just don't use one. Anyone else feel the same or does everyone on here wear one?

I am sorry to say, but the day will come when you are going to regret that decision.

I would never step into a treestand without one. You're playing with your life, in my opinion, if you don't wear one.

Do you have someone on standby to push you around in a wheelchair?

I guess you wouldn't...this poor guy has one of those electric deals.

1 out of 3 treestand hunters will have an accident in their hunting career.

Btw...I've been hunting out of a treestand for several years and haven't had an accident. Harness has been on everytime though. I suspect one day that it will save my life.

I always shake my head when I hear someone say they don't need it. For anyone not to use one is idiotic. 1 in 4 hunters will have some kind of fall while they are hunting.

Strap yourself in, or stay on the ground.

By the looks of it...you can still be successful in a wheelchair.

Do you really want to take the risk of falling and getting hurt or even killed? What happens when you fall and injure yourself to the point where you can never hunt again...theres no way in hell its worth that risk, let alone everything else in life it will effect. Spend the money and strap in.

My nephew has never been able to climb a tree. I bet he would be happy to trade places with you anytime.

Tree Harness is a must. You're flat out idiotic for not wearing one. If you don't wear one you don't care about your life or your family.

In 6 years I've forgotten mine once and felt so uncomfortable without it that I got down out of the stand and set up a ground blind. I've known 4 guys that have fallen, 1 is dead, 1 is in a wheel chair, 1 is permently disabled and the last somehow walked away. I don't like those odds.

Go buy a harness unless you have no responsibilities and or no one that cares about you. I hope thats not the case.

don't become a statistic. if using a important safety device while in a tree is not important to you then i suggest sticking to hunting from a blind

I also wear a harness every time I climb. It's a no brainer.

I got a buddy that has really taught me everything I need/want to know about hunting, he's been VERY helpful to me. One thing we disagree on is tree harnesses. He said to me you will be fine, I've been climbing since I was 14 without one and haven't had any problems. Also said, if you feel more comfortable with one then ok, but I think you will be fine. It's not a total lack of safety on his part, as he owns a few harnesses. I am really disappointed he would give such BAD advise on this topic though.

First year up in a tree and you better bet I will have my new Muddy Harness on, still learning how to use it and I'm sure it will be a hassle at first. But can't be more trouble than it's worth, especially if it saves my life. It's like not wearing a seat belt, why take the chance?

Ever heard the expression " It is not if you fall but when you fall". It will happen when you least expect it. Put a darn harness on !!!!

I mostly hunt from the ground. If for some reason I do find a tree worthy of hunting out of... I wear one... always !!!! There isn't an excuse good enough to not wear one. The nice vest harnesses they make now... it takes a couple seconds to strap it on. They are not very expensive compared to what we spend on bowhunting.

I keep my harness in my truck at all times once hunting starts. For the most part it will sit in the truck all fall/winter not used... but it is there if I need it.

I always wear mine now. Ten years ago no I would bother using one till I fell while climbing. Also it only takes one time nodding off with out a harness in the stand and your free falling to the ground. Be safe wear one
