My oldest brother instilled the fire and I fine tuned my strategies by reading everything I could and spending lots of time in the field.
My Uncle and from reading. Since being young always was interested in hunting stories and "hunted" birds, cats, dogs with slingshot ( Originally from South America and the grown ups do not take kids hunting because they make too much noise because of bugs, can't sit still, etc.)
My neighbor actually. I started working for him when I was in high school as an intern in an engineering group. It was then he was building a house down the road from mine. We've been friends ever since, joking that it was our 10 year anniversary. He is an avid hunter and he invited me out. I spent a full season just sitting in the stand with him, no weapon, just observing and learning. The next season we went hunting a few times together. I shot a doe that season. He showed me how to field dress it. The following year I had a lot of help from my cousin's fiance. He had an extra treestand so I found a rub line, put it over top, and took a 154" with a muzzleloaer on a misty november morning. The rest is really history. My neigbor and I still hunt together at least once a year. I still go on hunts with my cousin's fiance. I've even got my brother started in the sport. After seeing a giant 8 pointer opening morning, he was completetly hooked. He took the smallest 10 pointer I've ever seen in my life actually. As far as bowhunting, it's always something I've had an interest in. However, I got to talking to a guy at work who basically only bowhunts. Him and this site has really pushed me to where I am today in archery.
