If a guy killed 6 bucks and 900 inches of antler on the 50,000 acres I hunt, they might go down as one of the best hunters in Virginia history. I ain't kidding.

731 with 6 bucks in a bad area. 143, 133, 130, 130, 125, 75. That's a 121 avg. All were 4 year olds minus the 2 smaller ones. All have been taken with a bow and are the only bucks I have shot. I've been hunting for 28 years. 23 of them years have been hunting for mature bucks only. That is a terrible percentage. The last 10 years I've shot one buck (143 incher) but passed on many 125 to 130 inchers. Most of the ones I passed were 3 year olds, some were 4 year olds. Close to 70% of the bucks I've let go by has gotten shot come gun season. My area rocks, not!! Lol

Ha! I just figured mine out and I'm around 850. I guess thats not bad considering all but one of those is from PA.

Now if I actually killed half the big bucks I've hunted, I'd be well into the 1000" club. LOL. Thats a whole different story.

Assuming we are talking bow deer only, I am at just under 700" for my best 6 bucks. To you mid west guys that probably sounds lame, but for around here, where deer are under fed, and over hunted, it's not too shabby. I gotta move!

Don't know, never had any deer measured. Could owe some points with all the slickheads I kill.

Is anyone on this post that posted 6 bucks and more than 800 inches from anywhere else besides the midwest?

I only picked that number because I have never heard anyone else talk about this other than Shockey. It does show no matter where you live very few get over that mark. I am not suprised by who is on the list from years of being on here and reading the stories. Looks like A LOT of members did not use the poll though.

To be honest I don't know I have never measured until this year and I had that done because of the allowance of lit nocks. I would like to knock off my smallest two and then see what my total would be.

virginiashadow, I posted. I had a "cheater" deer from MO in my list that scored 151" though. Everything else is a PA deer.

I do score my bigger deer, for my own knowledge and records. It really helps me in the field identify bucks as being shooter class or not by my own personal standards. I don't use scores to brag however. I don't measure my success against anyone else but my own. If I'm happy with the bucks I kill, thats all that matters. I don't let Shockey or anyone else dictate what I deem a trophy.

Brett has a point. You can't kill a big racked buck if there are none in your area or state. These type of threads are mostly for fun and mean nothing. I know two guys. One is from NC and the other is from SC. Both have killed more then 400 deer each so far in their life time... bow and rifle. Only one has killed a buck bigger then 125. They hunt some pretty nasty spots.

Both could probably hunt most of us into the ground on any given day.

To me, your number impresses me the most since I know what it's like in our state. Hats off to you.

For the record, my last 6 would put me at around 580 with one dink (he was #6 :D).

Is it bad that I miscalculated because I completely forgot the first buck I took with a bow:whip:

Not that it helps my total that much but I actually come up with 770.

What would yours be if you substituted that MO buck with your 6th biggest from PA?

I won't mince words or lie, I've been VERY fortunate in that I have always hunted a family owned farm that has been managed well. No fences or anything, but very good quality habitat, etc. We're also aided in that a state prison owns the ground around us and is pretty much off limits to hunting except a day or two a year for rifle where they allow employees to hunt it. Biggest challenge we have is that its a TON of ground that is unhuntable around us. Deer roam anywhere and not just on our 800 acres.

If I removed my MO deer and replaced it with my next PA deer it would be about 775". I have a PA deer that scored roughly 125".
