I get irritated at VA for their opening day.... October 4th. I know there are many other states that open this day , but does anybody open later than the 4th? I feel for you if you do, I'd love to open about mid September. I feel that I would be so much more successful early on. I could catch them on there patterns, but by the 4th.... It's like, "Are there any deer on this land?" It's like I can get excited about what Im seeing all summer but after Sept. It gets tough. Anybody else?
Illinois is October 1st. Not really sure why they are opening on a Wednesday. I have 1 public spot that I like hunting so I decided to take thursday and friday off so I can hunt it for 2 days before everyone shows up. Figure it might be the only time I will hunt this spot this season. Just hoping the days off work pays off in the woods!
Fergus, you answered your own question. The reason they are opening on a Wednesday is because it isn't just any old Wednesday. That Wednesday happens to be October 1st. And most IL boys know, archery opens October 1st regardless if it is a Wednesday, Saturday, or Shootbigslobsday. It is less convenient for those who work? Certainly! Does the DNR care, certainly not! I would rather it be October 1st than November 14 1/3rd, wouldn't you? :d Good luck on that Thursday and Friday. I will most likely be out the same days.
Yeh Illinois is the Oct-1 but I can't hunt till after the 7th because I will be behind the camera till then!! Walt
