Saying nothing to who is "Best". You asked for our "favorite". I'm a big fan of Kevin Bacon's work. He's done some really diverse stuff, too. 'A few good men' was a great role. JFK' was, too. 'Murder in the First' - INCREDIBLE performance. And.....it never sucks to have 'Animal House' on your filmography list! Two more "favorites".... 1. Robert Duvall.....for many reasons. His role in 'Phenomenon' really stands out, to me. 2. Ed Harris. Seems every role of his....I like. And, to me, HE made 'Apollo' XIII. Certainly ....all subjective.
I'm really not sure. I don't think I can narrow it down to just one. I, too, like both of Jeff's recommendations (not Bacon, though:D). Duvall and Ed Harris I like. Although not a top favorite, Dennis Hopper always plays interesting roles. Anthony Hopkins is up there on the list. I like Clint Eastwood as well (more so in the classic westerns than anything). I think I enjoy the roles more than the actor/actress really. I think Will Smith is a good actor in specific roles, and although he's a complete psychopath, Tom Cruise has roles I really like. Val Kilmer did pretty well in a few select roles (Doc Holiday in Tombstone is probably one of his best). I also like Christian Bale in his recent movies (Batman series and 3:10 to Yuma). Sorry, that was too long of an answer:D
This is a tough one. Based solely on roles that they played that I really enjoy watching and the amount of movies I watch with them in it Nicholas Cage Brad Pitt Tom Cruise But 3 guys who I also enjoy thier work and think they area great actors are Leo Dicaprio Tom Hanks Mel Gibson 3 more that I can't believe I left off the list Harrison Ford Clint Eastwood Jack Nicholson
Oh....make no mistake.....I don't think any of the three I mentioned are the best actors of our time (OK....Duvall should be somewhere on that list). But...they ARE my favorites. You can probably pick this up for $1 at the rental store....or maybe find it for free, on cable. Good movie, for one that never got any real exposure. http://www.imdb.com/video/screenplay/vi1201340697/
I guess I could put Brad Pitt on there. Tom Hanks and Mel Gibson as well. Jeff, I've heard of that movie, but never watched it. I might have to give it a try.
Get ready to be pissed, humbled, and amazed. It'll tear at you. The fact that it's a true story is pitiful.
Jeff, I'd put Death Sentence up there as one of Bacon's best roles, My favorite actor? A toss up between Morgan Freeman and Gene Hackman.
# 1 for sure...robert de niro after that any order mel gibson clint eastwood al pacino tom hanks harrison ford russell crowe
i am sitting in the theater about to watch the tooth fairy. The Rock may win me over. If not then Vince Vaughn is my pick.
Morgan Freeman Samuel L. Jackson (Love this guy) Really don't have any others that come to mind. I am sure there are more, I just don't watch a lot of movies.
TEmbry hit on some of my favorites: Denzel, Will Smith and Mark Wahlberg. I also like Christian Bale, Brad Pitt, Josh Krasinski (just for The Office) and the late Heath Ledger.
