I spoke to Aaron, the editor at Campbell's Outdoor Challenge, yesterday and he said he is editing HD footage on Final Cut Pro 6. My ver 5.1.4 won't edit any HD footage other than DVCPro HD. He also said that you can edit HD and SD (standard definition) footage on the same timeline. He admitted that when you edit HD footage, you sometimes run into quirks. He usually shoots in HD and dumps it into the computer in SD format. This way you have it at the highest quality level, but save yourself some headaches while editing by using SD format. This makes shooting in HD a little more of an option for me. Plus, most people can't tell the difference unless they have an HD channel/TV. BTW, thanks for putting the bug in my ear about this new Canon, now Jim and I are contemplating a full out gear upgrade. It should be like Christmas!!!!
Fading light is always a videographer's worst nightmare. I'm not sure any camera is kick ass in that department.
