I've done made up my mind i'm going to smoke me some does this year. would like a decent buck but not til i thinned out the does especially the big tasty looking ones who else is after some swamp donkeys?
I wouldn't mind killin a decent buck either but there are way to many does on my place and they really need thinned out. so im right there with ya
This is what I do and sometimes I pass on an average buck and not see anything bigger the rest of the year. So just put it this way, I have 17 out of 23 kills that are does!
I love being an orphan maker. I will likely end up with three tags. 4E, my main hunting ground, holds a wise old doe that I have had numerous encounters with. She is the only doe that I will kill at that property. I will hunt her clean through January if I have to. 3B, the cabin ground and various other spots, will find me killing a doe when the situation is right. (a saturday hunt with the boys, an early sit, or anytime after a buck falls) 5B, the annual mama killing trip to York, anything inside of 30 yards that is 1.5 year old or better gets an arrow.
I've got a couple I "might" shoot. I've got several doe groups around here that I see, frequently. Unless they're marked, though....I don't have a clue how anyone could know they're shooting the "right" doe (or...a particular doe they're hunting). Better than me!
Defiantly going to try. A nice buck would be great but if I shoot a few does this year my season would be deemed a success.
Only way Ive ever known was by scars or does that were injured. Though I swear the same doe knew when I was in my stand every evening. Stupid doe busted me to many times.
I will likely take down several does. I love venison and most of my family does as well. And it is great practice for when the big boy steps out. There is an over abundance of does around here.
I had one of those last year. She busted me five times even though I moved each time I got picked off. I knew it was the same doe because she was the only doe that was always alone. The day I did finally get her I was in my ASAT 3D suit, 30 feet up, peeking around from the opposite side of the tree. I saw her coming up the hill quite a ways before she got within range so I was still. How she managed to look up through the leaves of the lower trees and see me peeking around a stinking tree is still a mystery. This time, however, she decided I wasn't a threat and that was her last mistake. Even if you're not hunting does, if you have one of those smart old girls around you've almost gotta take her out. Nothing ruins my hunt like having a doe bust me, run 50-70 yards out and blow for 5 minutes. The offer still stands, Greg. If you don't manage to find one or two there, there are plenty here in Tennessee.
Ah, what, no 2G? Ah, that's right, our WMU is ridiculous. I'm planning to take one for sure. I missed a chip shot on one one week before I shot my buck last year. Same stand and all. I need some redemption
