When the situation calls for it I do. I let the circumstance dictate how I hunt and what stand I use.
I hunt mainly public land... so with that being said I don't have much choice in what I use. But I really enjoy the versatility I have with a climber. Plus our area has plenty of good trees to use climbers with. Sent from my LG-E980 using Tapatalk
Killed a majority of my deer out of my Summit Viper. I've modified it by taking out the overly comfortable sling seat as I fell asleep in it too much LOL Love mine, make you mobile and nothing left behind for thieves to steal
Love the comfort of my climber. Killed many deer out of them. I currently have the new summit viper SD. Great very light stand.
Lone wolf sticks and hang on for me. Tried hunting out of a climber when I first started hunting public land but that sucked. Never again! Sent from my iPhone 5S using Tapatalk
I have big game ladder stands for my property and love them. But I also have an Gorilla Climber that I use for public land. It works great and is very comfortable and safe. The only thing I don't like with a climber is having to find the telephone pole style tree. You have to go up really high to be out of sight. Where on my property my 15ft ladders are high enough because you can put them in tree's with lots of limbs and back cover. So if I have pick it's a ladder stand for me.
Ive hunted out of a tree lounge for the last 15 years but going to hang on this year Sent from my iPhone 5s using Tapatalk
Hunting public land in Illinois I couldn't always hunt the same tree and you are not allowed to cut limbs so several times in the dark I would get up 10' or so only to find myself stuck by a branch I couldn't see in the dark. And finding straight trees with no branches on public land is often harder then you think. Switched to sticks and have never had that problem again! Sent from my iPhone 5S using Tapatalk
100% agree and thats why im switching it really depends on your area for years the climber was great down south when i could go 20ft in a pine with no limbs but now in IL finding a tree that can be climbed without trimming is tough Sent from my iPhone 5s using Tapatalk
I hunt out of a Lone Wolf sit and climb through all of bow season but where I live we have a lot of straight tall pine trees so it is very easy!! I am in and up my tree in less than ten minutes!!!
I live in a climber. Api grand slam supreme. Love it! Packed it for miles many days. The work is part of the sport just always keep that in mind.
I hunt out of a climber most of the time when being mobile. Its easier, faster, quieter and more comfortable than a hang on for me. The down side, and its a big one, is you've got to find a straight tree with no limbs. Not always easy to do. I've been working really hard to make my lone wolf and sticks as fast, easy and quiet as using a climber but I haven't done it yet. If there is straight trees with no limbs where I want to hunt, its a no brainer, use the climber. I also like to set up a stand with sticks and a hang on and leave it during the season in spots that I can, and that wins hands down. No carrying a stand, no set up, just climb your tree and hunt.
After a few hunts, ladders and hang on's seem to get less deer traffic as deer figure out what we are doing and will walk around on just out of range it seems this is a great time to have a climber and set up 50 yards from the other stand. Also for me it's hard to get the stand stolen when you carry it with you.
