I looked at a few different self-reported gun ownership polls/reports that were pretty consistent that 1 in 3 households owned at least one firearm. A gallup poll in 2011 (although bit old) reported 47%. With first time gun ownership on the rise and many people wouldn't actually admit to a pollster that they own a firearm it really is a mystery. But for the sake of "being armed to the teeth" I only reported on the ones who admit to owning a firearm, all other owners are icing on the cake.
